Panthers used the 8th pick on a average slot WR

@CarolinaSamurai Yeah Mosher’s arguably one of the biggest idiots out there when it comes to McCaffrey. Guy is biased and doesn’t actually watch CMC at all.

He continually defends Ezekiel Elliott’s domestic violence issue and attacks anyone who even questions Elliott’s purity. He overrates the heck out of runningbacks he likes and disses those he doesn’t.

Good grief y'all... it's a legit discussion.

Igo was about the biggest CMC cheerleader on the planet this preseason and even he is openly admitting that he's not living up to his draft status.

I think CMC is a valuable tool for us and that he will be a good player for us, but I'm not seeing anything out of him that makes me think that he'll ever live up to being the #8 overall pick. Seems like the coaching staff is swallowing that pill too. The reason his carries have gone way down is because he isn't an effective runner of the football. He just goes down too easily. Now that everyone is in full pads and going full speed and rallying to the football, his cuts aren't working and he doesn't have the strength to run through arm tackles. In short, he doesn't look like a RB and to the coaches' credit we've heavily dialed back handing him the football as a traditional RB. We've also taken him out of PR duties.

I'm impressed with CMC's route running and hands. With Olsen out, he's the best route runner with the best hands on the team and honestly I don't think 2nd place is even close.

Honestly, he looks like a slot receiver being used as a jack of all trades player. I honestly think we should evaluate simply moving him to the slot this offseason and letting him concentrate on that role. I think he has the ability to be much more than just an "average slot WR". I think he can be an elite slot receiver and while that may not be seen as great draft value in the traditional sense, I'm not sure if the traditional sense is relevant anymore. Production is production, I don't care if it comes from the backfield, split out wide, or in the slot. If we moved him to the slot and he became the next Wes Welker, I don't think anyone would be complaining too much about where he was drafted.

This is my hope as well. Move him to a full slot receiver role next year (his routes and hands are crazy good), and draft another RB in mid to deep rounds next year (next year's RB depth is crazy deep). If he can develop into an elite slot receiver, that would be invaluable to Cam and this team. I wouldn't be mad at all with that from our #8 pick.

Hey yes, a players career is defined by his first 8 games. Soon he will be too old to even play, much less improve and adapt. OP you are zeee best! If only he could be as good of a football player as you are a shitposter, we would be slated for 8 super bowls in a row.

He is the 8th overall pick. Not low 20s like KB, Shaq, Butler. We should expect more from a pick that high. Look at Luke and Star both top 15 picks. You don't draft 8th for a player you gotta  develope. Look at the dudes killing it just below him. It's unreal in a defensive heavy draft we go offense two picks on a row. It's pathetic.

You and the Gorge have it figured out. Like I've said before, Edelman 2.0+.

it's not a matter of being able to handle the discussion. it's been handled in threads that are made at least once a day for the past coupe weeks talking about the same thing.

Let's be honest, the majority of the stuff we talk about has pretty much been beat to death. If we stuck to nothing but new, fresh ideas there would be about three posts a week on here.

8 games into a rookie season

DeAngelo Williams - 83 touches - 434 total yards, 1 total TD

Christian McCaffrey -98 touches - 495 total yards, 2 total TD

he is a rookie.  you aren't a bust if you don't produce like Ezekiel Elliot or DeShaun Watson out of the gate. More goes into it than just the individual rookie.  Generally when rookies are out there destroying people it is because they are put into great scenarios to succeed and not bad ones.

You, I nor anyone here knows how his career will pan out. Right now, he looks to be about the 8th best rookie RB in this amazing class. In 3 years? Who knows, half those guys could be out the league while CMC is one of the most dynamic players in the league. Or, he could very well meet your anxious, short-sided assessment and be a bust. As a fan of this team, lets hope not. Otherwise, carry on your whining and complaining since you seem to enjoy it so much. No one is playing good on offense so KB is a bust. Turner is a waste of money. Cam is less than average. Yadi yadi ya.
