Thanks, cookie.  Amazing article, accurate and factual on all points.  I'm glad Cam is cutting these crybabies off.  He has never gotten the respect he deserved here.  Hell, I love Smitty, but he got more respect and essentially ended 3 dudes careers in off-field incidents.  So, I hope Cam keeps it up and I also hope he comes out and says these are the reasons he is doing it.  

Winningest QB in franchise history, Multiple NFL-record holder, 1x NFL MVP, multiple pro bowls, and gets treated worse than Brett Basenez.

Sports media as a whole seem to have a massively overinflated sense of self. Remember some journalists saying that without them people wouldn't even watch lol. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I'm catching a lotta poo for saying Cam should just play football. I think that's what he gets paid to do and it would help the teams focus.

That's what he wants to do...  He also gets paid to talk to the media, so he can't "just play football" as you want him to.  I wish he didn't have to deal with these clowns either, but its part of the job bud

Gotcha but maybe he could try a little harder to keep his cool during the interviews There's always gonna be idiots but by now he could learn to deal with them a little better in order to prevent distractions to his team

the issue of sexism was a story because Cam Newton is a celebrity and a well-known name. random two cent reporter having something racist in her twitter history isn't exactly high profile. in short, it wasn't news because Jourdan doesn't have the celebrity to make it news. she herself was only news for being in the orbit of Cam and without him as context, her story isn't interesting to anyone. I don't see it as an elaborate ploy by a malicious media outlet that someone unimportant nationally said some stupid things a few years ago and it didn't get the BREAKING NEWS treatment. oh well. can this die already?

Many won't like my response, so I'll be like our QB and not care even though I don't make 100 million, I have through 20 years of season tickets, I have spent easily $100k on this team 

So, what is the narrative here?  That Newton is treated differently because of race in the press?

Cam is is own worst enemy.  He is treated differently because he presents himself like a jerk, a condescending jerk .  From his lack of eye contact, to his body language, to his answers, after 7 years, he should know betteR

few athletes do press conferences without the Pr dept prepping them.  Whoever is doing that with Newton needs to be fired 

for instance Cam, could do an opening statement that totally puts him in control of the 10 mins he has to give the press   Ten mins  that's all  ten mins 

here is a man with a million dollar smile, who could have more fans than could be measured but he acts like a 5 year old and its worn thin 

As a longtime season ticket holder, my issue with Newton, neither he nor his team, are good enough this year to be part of continuing distractions    

Cam, Your organization gave your 100 million dollars to be the face of the franchise, time to man up and be it   Do your job

As for me lived through, frank reich, Kerry Collins steve berurline, Chris Weinke, Jeff Lewis, Rodney Peete, Jake Delahome, Vinny Testaverde, Brian St. Pierre, and last but not least Jimmy C

When Newton was drafted, I heard the stories, and hoped for the best as the 2011 class was not much and he was by far the greatest   I have been his biggest defender  not anymore   Time to grow up

Question, because the more I read this, and similar threads, I become increasingly confused. Last time I checked, Cam, TD, Stew, Pep, etc. all are of the same whatever you want to call it...race, skin color, community, and so on. For extra added fun, toss in old 89 and guys like Sherman. Some are anything but low profile, and occasionally have been called out for it. Why is it that the others, the current Panthers anyway, are almost universally beloved, but when Cam's detractors speak up, the same ones who love the other guys, his most ardent defenders, more often than not, play the race card? How can anyone rationally stand on that alone while excluding even the smallest possibility that his attitude, demeanor, and behavior play a role in the frequent controversy that seems to surround him?

One possible answer reminds me of when I was a little kid and spent weeks at a time on my grandparents' farm in Nowheresville SC. One week, this little baby chicken attached himself to me. He'd come when I called his name (Biddy) and eat feed out of my hand. He was different from all of the other chickens. They all were red. So was he, but his head was white. The others pecked at his head until it bled. Grandma put Mecurichrome (sp?) on it to prevent infection with the side benefit of coloring his head red too. But Biddy had a white head for too long. Even though he had changed to conform, one day later, I found him next to a sweet potato bed dying, after I chased the others, who ran off cackling loudly.

That, hard as it is to believe I'm sure, is the absolute truth, and there's a moral in there for some of you, and for Cam.

PS...My best vacation buddy down there, Raymond, was as black as I am white. He helped me bury Biddy. Then we went inside and ate Biddy's momma for lunch.
