I just don’t see it that way, and many professional black female journalists didn’t see it that way either judging by their tweets showing support for Jourdan.

Is that some sort of vindication in your mind? Do the opinions of a few black reporters negate the opinions of other black people who have argued that this dynamic with the Jourdan/Cam situation is a little more complicated than what was presented by the media? You're entering iffy waters.

Great article! I’ve never heard of this author, but if this is an indicator of her work the CO should go ahead and fire their entire Panthers team and sign this lady up to handle it.

But what she is saying essentially is " Shut up Becky" (generic term for non black females). "You don't get to be upset about those comments because me, and those of my skin tone get far worse"

Loved the write up/blog or whatever it was. But lets be honest! A half diva tried to make an issue....and the full on divas are jumping in to say no honey...you dont get to play that card.

Cams race sadly is an issue we all deal with as fans of this team. It should not be, but it is. I dont see anything in this other than a PoC writer geting pissed off that the other reporter that has less melanin is making an stink and got some attention.

I dont believe for one second the person behind that did so because of the issue at hand to us ( a reporter being sensitive to a misunderstood comment). I think she only takes issue because that particular reporter was of a lighter skin tone

I think she takes issue with the fact the racism was swept under the rug while the sexism was dragged over the coals. I think if both issues were treated with the same level of condemnation she wouldn’t have had a problem other than with the two issues themselves.

Agreed. but her stance comes off basically that you dont get to complain about sexism because i suffer from that also and racism also. So STFU about it?

So you think it’d be different it were a black female reporter. I disagree. Never gonna know for sure unless Cam makes another idiotic comment to a black female journalist.

To be fair all he can do is produce at a high level and that solves a lot of the problems. Cam opens himself to criticism and the media feasts on controversy, it's like sharks with blood in the water. I certainly think Cam is held to a higher standard but put up MVP numbers and the deniers look like hacks.

It's certainly plausible, who knows for sure.

But people here get so bent out of shape when you question dynamics within the white community. Truth is, a lot of white people in my opinion will be quicker to rise to the defense of those they identify most with versus those of a different skin color. Not all of it is malicious cross burning racism, but it happens. You see it all across social media in equality related discussions, especially regarding police killings.

I didn't  get that i got Cam said something wrong literally. Went behind doors they talked and both parties happy. Next thing we know Jourdan said she talked to Cam and it was worse...if it was worse then why leave with a smile..she played Cam and tthen the people retaliated and dug up her racist comments. It backfired, but no one seemed to blow up over her racist comments as they did the sexist comment by Cam even though Cams comment was misinterpreted his comment went viral quick but her wrong doings were sweep under the rug. Racism/ Sexism, bkack man/ white woman. He did not show when she came back why? Tried to create another story .. This is why Cam did not apologize for after 24hrs this why Cam did not mention her name in the apology. Because it was thought to be a non story to Cam bc it was crushed behind closed doors.  After she realized how viral it went she said it got worse. Spinning it. Cam is not malicious man if he soes something wrong he owns it. She didn't show her face bc she was wrong.. damage is done..walking around apologizing for what??

Care to explain why you disagree with the article?

it's not that i agree or disagree.  this is just tired.  people have "their man."  and cam is that for a lot of people.  everyone standing miles apart bc they think they know football.  holla at me when something novel happens that has deleterious effects on our super bowl goal.

This article proves what I’ve been saying forever. This team and this city does not deserve Cam. If the local media won’t respect you or applaud you why should anyone else. Also, if the local media is constantly kicking you while you’re down and making fumble jokes about SB50 why wouldn’t anyone else? The fact that Cam constantly gets treated like this and extended and chose to stay and tough it out speaks volumes about his character and loyalty. Honestly, if Cam were to ever leave Carolina I may hitch my bandwagon to wherever he goes. Being a Panthers fan after Peppers left was straight up embarrassing due to how our media and fans handled it

Racism comes in many forms. Truth is, there are a lot of "white people" that aren't racist at all, but resent the hell out of being called "white" instead of just "people." The same goes for Native Americans. While I have to go back to the 1800s for "pure blood" ancestors of that race, I actually, finally, "got" the whole Redskins thing, but I don't go around routinely labeling an entire race by their skin color...for lots of reasons, a big one being that's not an indicator of how a person acts, or what they believe. It's also deceiving. In Winter, you'd call me a white guy. After a week at the beach, you would be telling me to go back to the reservation. See what I mean?

PS...There is no such thing as the "white community," at least how you meant it. Such a generalization, at least to some people, might itself be indicative of a racist viewpoint. In fact, I don't know a soul that identifies himself that way unless it's a box to check on a government form. Southern? Yep. Scotch Irish, German, Scandinavian? Sure. Baptist, Presbyterian, Jewish? Of course. Tar Heel? That too. White...first words out of their mouth? Uhh, no one I associate with.
