Cam's Beef with the Local Media

i do think the main reason that people at the observer and in the local media didn't stand up against the vestige of racism like they did the vestige of sexism is because jourdan was one of their own. she's part of the press corps club and they don't often turn on their own. rather, they usually come out to their defense. all groups will do that though. it's human behavior. it just sucks when that group has the power the press does to control the public narrative.

I said before, they can blow up a story about Cam comments KNOWING he didn't intend harm, but they can't drill into Panthers ownership and management for running an inconsistent team from year to year.

you just have to ask yourself...what kind of comment or story is going to get the most clicks or retweets?

I dont have think it's about clicks rayzor, I think it's fear of being fired or shunned from covering the Panthers. Every Panthers reported should have bashed Gettleman situation vehemently, not cause he was fired, but because JR went and got Marty Hurney? WTF

This is about as on point about the entire situation as you can get.

I still contend that if Jourdan were not white that this whole thing would have gone another direction. I'm genuinely not trying to TB this thread, but it's just the truth.

When Cam called a black female reporter “sweetheart” he received about the same amount of criticism.

maybe you're right. maybe we're both right. the only one they are at all hard on is cam and how he acts during pressers. i don't see them going after the coaches or asking the hard questions there. i don't see them going after management. cam is an easy and lazy target. if these guys were worth their salt, they'd be pushing rivera and shula for harder answers on what's going on or giving them a harder time.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think the fallout of those two instances really compare.

Few things in this country get white people's jimmies rustled like a white woman under perceived attack from a black man. She stoked those flames like a pro too. Sounds pretty white privilege to me.

I'm new here and just started watching panthers this season. Cam is a huge distraction to the team. It will be difficult to be successful with cams bs distracting the team focus.Just  my take but he  should just play football.

Your hot take will end super well for you.

I think JR controls the media's actions in his own facilities and if anyone steps on any toes, they're gone. More spcifically, coaching staff and FO toes that he's had a big hand in putting together.

I just don’t see it that way, and many professional black female journalists didn’t see it that way either judging by their tweets showing support for Jourdan.
