who's binge watching S1 before starting S2?

did it a while back.

can't believe season 2 is finally here. i haven't done much in the way of trying to get the scoop on what's happening. pretty much the only thing i know is that sean astin is in it.

i knew nothing about the show before i watched it the first time aside from knowing it took place in the 80's. Pretty much captured the 80's (at least my 80's) perfectly. my brother and i played D&D for a couple years with other kids from the neighborhood in our early teens (probably '83-'85) and grew up in neighborhoods where we'd take off on our bikes wandering around with other kids at all times of the day or even night going back several year before that.

stranger things captures a lot of the fun of the goonies but gives it a john carpenter feel. i can see elements of spielberg and stephen king in it but carpenter's influence probably stands out more to me. the high school melodrama stuff looks like it was taken right out of 80s movies too, right down to the music playing in the background of "emotional" moments of someone bouncing back and forth between walls in a hallway.  just  a lot of subtle things they did that throws me back and gets me all nostalgic.

i just hope season 2 lives up to the first season.

Perfect timing I just finished up Narcos season 3

The trailer looks great, I enjoyed S1 & one of the best opening theme songs IMO

The first couple of episodes of Season 2 were good...after that it was meh for me.  I actually just turned it off to watch something else...

I'm an episode and a half into it and am getting a similar feeling. Will watch it all though. Still seems to be well done and the a tings is pretty good.

i just hope season 2 lives up to the first season.

I haven't started S2 yet, but for some reason this feels rushed and I'm going to be disappointed.

I've finished 7 episodes of season 2

It's still really good, but something about it feels off from season 1. I think the expanded nature of the show has characters with a lot more solo time. That means less development of each character imo

I enjoyed it better than season 1 actually, I felt like it had more focus, etc.

Done watching S2.  It is a shame that S1 didn't have more of the kid that was "lost" for most of its season getting more screen time.  Of the kid actors, he may well be the best.  As much as the kid playing 11 impressed me in S1, this kid impressed me in S2. 

Teenage kids definitely turned out to be a lot more filler type stuff, but the villain teen was at least a little bit compelling.  The whole "Justice for Barb" (while being a valid plot point) felt too forced as a narrative.

Winona Ryder was definitely a lot less screechy as a character.  Sheriff was still a boss.

We're 4 episodes in and greatly enjoying it. The acting is top-notch and overall production value feels even higher than S1. Really impressed thus far.

Season 2 is as good as season 1 IMO. Every character evolves and there are unexpected tangents the story takes that is refreshing. 

Also I cannot believe it was Kaiser Solze! Spoiler oops..
