Stats - Cam and CMC

Just some facts here. I don't think 1 speaks to Cam's talent, rather his evident misuse and other well documented problems. 2 speaks to the much discussed promise (or lack thereof to some) of our #8 pick:

1. In the past two seasons,  Cam's 5.32 yards per attempt is worse than Bortles (5.49).

2. McCaffrey is on pace to tie Anquan Boldin's record for most receptions by a rookie in NFL history (101).

The thing about CMC is that I think he has helped raise Cam’s completion percentage but I don’t think we needed to spend a first round pick to do that. We have a game plan in mind this season and, yes, CMC is good but I don’t think he was worth the pick when considering that if we made a conscious effort to change the plan any player in rounds 3-5 could do this.

Fozzy isn't nearly as good as CMC in catching the ball.

Outside of 3 maybe 4 catches this year, every single reception has been rudimentary

Shoot his best game this season came against the saints playing prevent defense letting us have the underneath throws  in a blow loss.

Why do you guys care if it is a run for 4 or 5 yards or a catch for 4 or 5 yards? If I am the coach I would call designed short passes to CMC every fuging play until the other team adjusts to stopping it.  We move the ball when we use CMC in the passing game. We grind to a hault when we don't -simple as that.

We don't wait for that adjustment to come though, we just stop doing it when it is working. When the other team adjusts, that should help free up a receiver or maybe even take a guy out of the box for stewart, depending on where CMC lines up.

Thats all shula..no matter what playcall is working he will quit using it and try a play call that does not work and use it over and over again..Anybody thinking this man is any good is lost. On top of that guys that looked good during preseason don't even get a chance to play look at CAP..he played better to me than CMC but where is he at not even been activated. We need a spark for someone..throw Clay in the game to lets see what he can provide..it appears we are lost on offense anyway.

The thing about CMC is I dont see the hype. He does provide Cam some underneath passes but he isnt getting rac. I dont see the shiftyness they were talking about. I dont see the big play potential he was suppose to bring. Granted its his rookie year. Also he is costing us valuable yard on special teams by not far catching the ball at the 40 and letting it bounce to the 15. He isnt playing up to his potential and is playing hesitant I guess due to his size.

    • Because being a pauper in the NFL is still making a king's ransom. NFL vet min is roughly 18x the median salary in the U.S.
    • At some point I sense it's gonna create some hate and locker room cancer between these cap hogs and the rest of the players. When the top 6 or 7 players take 80% of the cap, the other 40 plus guys are gonna get pissed off, especially when they're still only winning 5 or 6 games. Why put everything on the line to play with guys who are only in it for themselves?
    • I am just spitballing here--let it play out and I will go to bed: Let's say Mahome's contract comes due and he insists on $100m per season.  Is there a team that would find the money to pay it?  Would KC? It was in 2015 (I think) when Cam was getting $20m and it was hard to grasp.  In the past decade, the price of a franchise QB has tripled.  Then the next QB bases his contract on the Mahomes deal.  The trend has been the last QB contract is the highest.  I see nothing to discourage that trend--Greed can destroy a league.  Personally, I don't watch baseball any more, and the NBA has a small group of about 8 teams that appear on national TV and they have players who make more than some eastern block countries.  Ticket prices go up---and we are headed for pay-per-view very soon across the board-
