There is a serious perception problem here.

Let’s put some things in perspective.

Football is a bunch of sweaty overgrown men romping around on a grassy field chasing around an oblong leather ball. It doesn’t attract the brightest minds humanity has to offer.

I wish the Panthers organization tried to fill the staff with intelligent people. They seem to care more about harmony and good feelings than successful results. And now the people they have are getting delusional. I wouldn’t expect anything to change or to expect much from something as dumb as football. There’s a reason the Patriots have so many Superbowls and the Panthers are NOT in that club.

PS - fantasy football is some kind of weird gay porn.

The team rushed for over 100 yards and averaged 3.6 YPC. To RR and company, that is running the ball well. Hell, seeing just that I would say it was an okay day.

However, 50 of those yards came from your QB with a 5.6 YPC average, which leaves the following:

Stew: 48 on 14 carries for 3.4 YPC
CMC: 7 on 10 carries for 1.4 YPC

That ain't cutting it.

We need to figure a better way for Stew and CMC to run the ball. They both have the talent, we need to put them in a positions to succeed.

This boils down to OL and blocking schemes. Both are very poor at this point.

We need a reporter to ask RR, how many of the team rushing yards that you just quoted came from your running backs? and wasn't this the year that the Panthers were implementing a new rushing attack to allow Cam to stay in the pocket and extend his career?

Take a look at the chart below for our rushing stats for the season. If you take away Cam's carries, yardage and TD's our rushing attack has generated 151 carries for 470 yds and no TD's. Our average per attempt is 3.11.

If you add up just the carries of our running backs the numbers are even more dismal. Stewart, McCaffrey, and Whitaker have 148 carries for 419 yards; which averages out to 2.83 per attempt. Take note that Cameron Artis-Payne is not on the list because he has had no carries this year.

Tuesday Morning Quarterback

Quote

Sweet ‘n’ Sour Plays of the Week. The Bears are only 3-4, but churning out sweet plays. Last week, 5’6” tailback Tarik Cohen lofted a touchdown pass. This week he lined up as a wide receiver and ran a “go” route for a 70-yard reception that positioned Chicago for a field goal. With the Bears leading Carolina 7-0, the Cats faced 3rd-and-10 on the Chicago 33. The Bears fielded just one lineman, three linebackers, and seven defensive backs—a skinny front that concedes the run. (TMQ calls this the American Ballet Theatre defense.) Rather than audible to a draw, Cam Newton heave-hoed an interception returned 76 yards by safety Eddie Jackson for a touchdown, another sweet Bears play,
