I bet video of missed OL assignments and guys getting tossing around like ragdolls from that game would probably last about 10 minutes. I remember both of those plays live and facepalming. It does look like in the initial post that Williams just shat the bed on what he was supposed to be doing.

I will second the thought that I noticed that our OL played a little better when Ryan Kalil went out with injury again. But, that might be somewhat explained by the fact that he hasn't played pretty much the whole season.

Also, if it is Williams at fault here, it is while Ryan Kalil is in the game, dispelling the myth that the offensive communication is just fine when he is in there. 

 

This entire offense is just impotent. 

 

 

The explanation for this just came to me. 

 

"Well, Manhertz does great against Charles Johnson in practice."

I think Manhertz was as surprised as anyone to have to be solo on the DE. Williams "oh poo" reaction seems to give away that he was supposed to be blocking that guy.

You guys may disagree with me, but I really think D. Williams is better suited to play guard than tackle in the NFL. He doesn't play well consistently on the outside. If he were at guard he wouldn't be whiffing on plays like the one we just saw.

He actually graded out as one of our top 5 players in that game per PFF.

He was moving to block on the inside before he saw the guy running over Manhertz and went to help. That may have been the play design or the called protection.

Right, regardless of the scenario, it was awful.
