So, Putting The Bears Game In Perspective

It's been very apparent our coaching staff is holding back this team. Much like how Sarkisian makes the Falcons look like a DIII team offensively, Rivera and Shula make this group look like high schoolers. With poor time management, situational awareness, and lack of urgency, it's pretty obvious this team won't go far if this keeps up.

However, if you take away our poor time management, three fluke plays, and coaching influences, we probably would've dominated the Bears.

Had we not gotten any turnovers, it's very likely we would've been at least 9-3 against the Bears. Our defense was absolutely demolishing Trubisky and shutting down their offense. The Panthers were moving down the field pretty well before those turnovers and would likely have gotten at least a few FGs. Had Rivera and co. actually managed the situation well (i.e. not burning down the clock with so many runs/putting the game on Cam), we probably would've won.

We were the better team. The sad thing is, the Bears capitalized on our mistakes big-time, and it ultimately cost us.

But alas, our mistakes and turnovers have cost us two games so far - one against the Eagles, the other the Bears. Props especially to the Bears for covering our receivers well. Luckily, it appears we won't be facing as formidable of a defense until the Vikings, so we'll likely be getting on a hot streak soon.

Going against an injured Bucs defense that has been pretty bad as of late, it's fair to expect our offense to rebound in a positive way. Considering the state of Jameis and their oline, we could probably get our first turnovers. And afterwards, we face a demoralized Falcons team coming off a depressing loss to the former SB champs. Sarkisian is worse than Shula, and their defense is undisciplined too.

Very likely we turn things around soon. I personally expect to see us get around the 10-12 win range. We've looked good outside costly mistakes. Just need to start ensuring we're doing what we're supposed to do and win some games, and we should be playoff bound.

However, if Rivera keeps up his poor coaching, and Shula remains a terrible situational play-caller, we could very well suck once again despite my optimism.

Another thread like this? Seriously stop it, being optimistic is one thing, being delusional or in denial is another, right now too to bottom this is not a good football team.

I mean in all honesty we'd be talking a whole different game had it not been for the fluky turnovers. Bad luck happens, but overall the team performed nicely.

The defense was dominant again. Three games this year they've shut down offenses to score 3 or less points.

Fix up mistakes, and we can push through in this league.

Of course, coaching is always going to be the main factor that could tip us either way.

Except our offense is awful, and it's not just the coaching. The line, The RBs, the WRs not fighting for the ball, our QB locking in (yet again) on one guy or holding the ball looking for the home run throw onlybto take a sack.

We have seen it all but 2 games yet nothing is getting fixed nor will it, we have never adjusted with the current staff so why would we start.

It's nice you want to try and give people hope but c'mon let's get real here, we are looking worse than last year.

I get it with the staff, and I completely agree.  Just don't forget that we went 15-1 in spite of them 2 years ago.

I'm all for firing Shula and Rivera, but this season still has hope with or without them.

Let's wait until we get through these next two games to throw in the towel just yet.  Hopefully we are singing a different tune next Sunday night

Since 2002, teams that finish a game minus 3 in turnover differential lose the game 90.7% of the time.

I would wager a large sum of money, that since 2002, not a single team has EVER won a game while minus 3 in turnover differential while having two of those turnovers returned for touchdowns

They'll just blaming the players, but this Chicago team will maybe win 5 or 6 games and that is being generous. Basically, cripple fight down the stretch.  New Orleans at home is going to blow this Chicago team out this weekend and they will lose all games against all our division rivals, except us.  This was a complete coaching loss.

Their Qb threw the ball 7 times and we still lost. I couldn't even tell you the last time that happened in the modern NFL

That was one of the most embarrassing losses in team history. There's no sugar coating this poo. We had the ball on offense for 40 minutes and scored 3 fuging points. A loss like this gets someone fired on most NFL teams.

do you remember how many of those games Rivera almost pissed away ?  I credit that season more to luck and the players over coming Rivera and company weakness than anything else.

Rivera and Hurney have got to go.

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
