Or, give them a new sanctuary to seek out.  A key selling point in pretty much any post-apocalyptic and/or zombie story is a place of refuge.  I was telling a friend that recently as we were discussing TWD, and I told him it feels like that was where they lost their way.  They knew Alexandria was the ultimate destination, and it's like they lost the ability to progress the ploy or develop the characters further once they reached it.  The whole series went stagnant once they got there.  It also lends itself to the idea, as I've suggested for years now, that they got lost once they caught up to the comic, so they tried to slow things down and just got lost.

So, give them a new REAL place of refuge to seek out, with hopes for a resolution or at least explanation of what happened to cause all of it and how can they manage it moving forward.  I know Kirkman has said he had no interest in explaining the virus or it's origins, and he seems to favor bleak, hopeless, unresolved situations over anything else, but again, it's the only way I can see them saving the series.  Either way, they need to put a end date on the series and figure it out.  This idea of indefinite hopelessness and stalled characters and plot progression will only continue to hurt the brand.

my wife gives me a summary still for some reason. She said Father Gabriel stumbled upon some radio station to transmit messages?   Seems like a convenient way to get a new marching destination when the time comes.

I still maintain after the Negan story line the show has already committed itself to some horrible combining of Fear The Walking Dead.

I disagree with most of you, you guys are over thinking this whole show. Here's a tip sit back relax and enjoy it for what it is not every episode will be a home run but every few episodes it's awesome best show on TV.  I would rather watch WD any version then half the crap on TV.  This is a fantasy show not a documentary

nah, a lot TV shows actually invite you to dig in deep to all the small things.  The shows and producers drive it to a degree.  They encourage viewers to look at the small details for clues and foreshadowing.   That is part of the attraction to a lot of shows.

so it matters when they contradict and fug up basic plot points.

TWD was one of the best shows on TV years ago....but those days are long gone. It's not even in the top fifty when you throw in all the streaming TV shows now and it has nothing to do with it being "fantasy". There isn't any genre that is excused from lazy writing and shoddy production values.

lol breaking from the comics is what has ruined the fuging show

It needed to break fully from the comics three years ago.

Im not sure if this crap they are airing works in graphic novel form  but as the viewership shows no one wants this boring stagnation.

It pretty much did break fully from the comics three years ago, and it hasn't been good since. Very little of this current nonsense is in the comic, none of the stagnation. No garbage people, no drawn-out 12 week days, and what is used from the source material is poorly conveyed, like the alleyway standoff where they could have just killed Negan on tv takes place in an open field where nobody has a clear shot at anyone, the way Sasha sacrificed herself (Holly in the comics) was a complete waste of time in comparison.  If they followed the source material, Negan would have been in Morgan's cell at the end of last season, and we'd be on to the Whisperer War. They've ruined every single character at this point, except for Michonne.

Trust me, you're getting exactly what you're asking for. The best thing they can do is cull the waste and bring the story and pacing back in line with the source material.

No I am getting neagan suddenly deciding to use zombie guts to infect people because of the comics...then next season I get to watch people who wear zombie skin become a threat to rick because of the comics.

Its sucks.

At least the show broke from the comics and got carl to die a virgin.  That was cool.

Yeah and there weren't all these instances of people cutting themselves with their own infected weapons in the comics, either. As far as the zombie skin goes, it has been cured into leather.  It's not like they're just slathering putrefaction all over their naked bodies.

They fuged Carl's character up about as badly as they could have.

Yeah - cleaned and cured but smells like dead zombie.

Real great writing.
