well, I didn't watch.  Fool me once shame on you, fool me 1000 times shame on me.  I finally have learned my lesson.

I have up the show where Tara went to the beach people.  I still listen to a podcast on it because I like the guys who do it (they do a bunch of shows I watch) and read on here.  It is still fine to hear people bitch about it.  I look at those of you still hanging on as this thing spirals and I see that younger, more naive me watching late season Dexter

It really is just crazy how far the show has fallen off.  I was discussing it with some friends the other day and everyone felt the same way...  They kept watching through this season but I watched the premiere in October and when they met up with multiple chances to kill a vulnerable Negan, but instead give him each of those opportunities to babble on with some meaningless, self-absorbed, completely unbelievable monologue, I just quit.  Negan COULD have been a great character, but I'd rather them kill him off at that point than continue on the way they were because the show has gotten so far off the rails.  I've only read the reactions here and read reviews after certain episodes since that premiere in October, and know I'm not missing anything.  I'm just so disappointed in how badly they've mangled this show.

If you can kill Carl off, you COULD be killed Negan, or allowed Glenn or Abraham to live, or Tyrese, or any other thing fans would've wanted to see...  instead, they just kill off any symbol or reason to believe things will resolve in their universe.

Maybe the show is actually a zombie...strong, if not great at first, slowly weakening over time, before finally just limping along needing to be put out of its misery.

It's gotten to the point where I actually judge people if they till think TWD is good TV.  Last night, in what "should" have been this crazy big moment, biggest character ever dying...and I couldn't wait for it to end.

The show has turned into a disaster and I expect it to be ended sooner rather than later.

  • Drawn out boring repetitive plots
  • Lame characters like Tara and Ezekiel getting more and more air time
  • Several of the main actors looking to leave the show for greener pastures.
  • Negan wasn't the spark they thought he would be. The average viewer doesn't like him at all.
  • the upcoming comic material isn't really that inspiring.

The entire thing should have ended with All Out War. Kirkman is just dragging it out at this point because of how much money it makes. The comics go entire volumes without anything interesting happening now.

my prediction.

this season goes as planned.  They draw out the war.......the crying Rick alone hurt is the last scene of the season.  OMG will he survive?!?!?!  yawn.  They should kill Negan which means odds are high they won't.  There is no sane storytelling where Negan can be captured and brought into the community like comic suggests.   Even if it worked in the comic, it doesn't work with the TV storytelling.

then after this season.  They do what they claimed wouldn't be done.  Fear the Walking Dead merges into this show in some desperate attempt to save the franchise.  It does not work.  Show continues a downward spiral.  They realize it is over and throw some half arse ending together that was never planned and is lame.  The end.

This will probably be exactly what happens as Gimple is being "promoted" to overseeing the FTWD/TWD universe after this season. Dude is a disaster. They keep coming up with these half-baked ideas that they think are so profound, but they don't realize the storytelling and character development have been sacrificed for these "AH HA!" moments (see Carl's vision).

Agreed.

Also, considering how big of a factor Carl was in the "Negan imprisoned" storyline, it's relatively pointless now...

Which means Gimple will probably do it.

If they kill of Negan it would be a massive mistake. He's the only thing interesting about the comic from issue 100 on. It's never really mentioned but a lot of the problem is that the source material started to suck. The comic should have ended already, but Kirkman is milking it for everything its worth. Before things were fast paced and every issue was interesting. Now the majority of the time nothing happens at all. It's turned into days of our lives with a minor zombie threat. I swear half of the dialogue these days are people riding on horses and saying poo like "So, you know Jimmy Bob in the Kingdom has totally been making googly eyes at you". He's also introducing increasingly more ridiculous characters. Just normal people isn't enough anymore. You have to have the baseball bat swinging biker, the black guy with dreads who has a pet tiger, the princess of pittsburgh who wears neon pink and somehow dyes her hair purple.

he may be the most interesting thing in the comic....but in TV land they made him into a horrible character.  Also with the TV story telling it just wouldn't make sense for them to bring him in.

Comic is the comic.  TV is TV.
