Front Office/Coaches after G-man

We need to get over this and move on.  Can't live in the past, all that matters is now.  We are 4-2 and look like one of the better teams in the NFC.  When the off-season comes along we will learn the direction of the team and we can all bitch about it, even tho none of us have any controll over it.

It's directly involved in the team as a whole right now. Desicions, failures, changes. It's all ripples from the late firing of Gman. He had a plan in place with his personnel decisions and that plan is crashing with the current "temp" system we have now. It's completely relevant to discuss that clash that's happening right now. It's one of the main reasons our team seems rudderless and even the wins we have haven't felt significant.

I lost all faith in JR and the front office when Gman was fired to bring back a guy that had 3 winning seasons in 11 years. Gman wasn't perfect by any means, but he did have a track record of success and that is something Hurney has never had. 2 Super Bowl wins and 4 NFC Championships. If you want to fire him, fine, but bring in a winner, not a proven loser.

I'm honestly starting to think this too. I think if Dave had full control, he would have had his own coaching staff. But JR LOVES Ron and wouldn't let that happen so Dave had to make due. Steve Smith and D-Lo was already too much for JR to handle, and then when talks of TD and Olsen came, that was it.

And it doesn't even matter IF we get a new GM. We now know that all JR wants is a yes man that will pay his vets so we can continue this family environment. He proved that with his latest move. We just have to hope we win a superbowl THIS YEAR because our future is bleak.

I doubt we win a SB when he is alive. Our FO is a mess. The only person that will work for JR is Hurney.

Yep. No new GOOD GM is going to want to come here after what we did to Dave. Our only hope is if Cam goes God mode again and wills us to a superbowl victory. After this year, big contracts are coming up and you already know Hurney (he's not going anywhere) will be back to throwing ridiculous contracts out. This sh*t is depressing man. One moment you are looking like a juggernaut franchise on the rise with a legit GM, next moment you are back at square one with the same guy that put us in cap hell to begin with.

Based on the comments here, I'm amazed that Gettleman is still unemployed.  The best GM in a generation can't even get a spot consulting somewhere?  Seriously?

Hurney is not going to put a long-term stamp on the team until and unless he becomes the permanent GM.  I don't see that happening, but like everyone else around here I have no idea what goes on behind closed doors in the Panthers organization.

Mike Shula hasn't let other teams average 29 points per game over the last four, for what that's worth.  We need to do better running the ball, obviously, but we're still improving steadily and with Kalil back maybe we can get something going against the Bears.  They've got a hell of a defense though, so maybe we won't see serious improvement until next week at Tampa Bay.

So anyway as far as being all doom-and-gloom about where our franchise is headed, I just can't buy in.  We've got a pretty good shot at the playoffs this year, Atlanta looks like they're imploding, and that's all it really takes for me to be happy about the Panthers.

Yup and honestly the sad fact was Hurney was not to blame for those crazy contracts. It was JR all the way. We will be back to crap draft picks and huge contracts in 3 years and CAP hell by 6 years.

With Hurney at the helm, if he stays, we could be in cap hell in 2 years.

DG was, by far, the best GM in this franchises short history, and his firing was about the dumbest thing this franchise has done in about the past 10 years.

Extending TD wasn't needed, nor was extending Olsen, but the thought of them being unhappy caused our (seemingly senile) owner to poo his pants, and make a dumb move.  We will pay for this one for a while.
