I am not overlooking Chicago, and neither should you.

The Panthers could very well lose in Chicago this weekend.

Take a look at their season so far...

Chicago Bears (2-4)

Week 1 - HOME - Lose to Atlanta 23-17

Week 2 - AWAY - Blown out in Tampa Bay 29-7

Week 3 - HOME - Defeat the Steelers in Chicago - 29-17

Week 4 - AWAY - Lose to Green Bay 35-14

Week 5 - HOME - Lose to Vikings 20-17

Week 6 - Away - Defeat the Ravens 27-24

Observations

Chicago quietly has the 6th ranked defense in the league currently. (Better than Detroit and Philadelphia's )

All of Chicago's home games have either been wins, or losses within 1 score. I suspect the same will be true this weekend.

Chicago has not allowed more than 23 points at home against offenses better than the Panthers (Steelers, Falcons).

Conclusion

For a Panthers team that is struggling on offense to begin with, this is not an automatic win. Throw in the fact that John Fox has extra motivation to hand Jerry and Marty an L this weekend, and things become far less certain.

I expect a very sloppy and tightly contested game Sunday. I expect Wilkes to throw everything he can at the young QB and attempt to rattle him early and often. But Chicago has a very solid front 7 and if our Oline plays like it did last week, it could be a very long day with lots of hurt feelings on here. This team has our old friend Danny Trevathan and Lenoard Floyd is really starting to come into his own. Combine that solid defense with a player like Cohen on Special teams and thats a recipe for upset.

I hope having 10 days to refocus and reevaluate will make a difference and we will see a motivated Squad take care of business and put this one away early, but this is Ron and Shula's Panthers so ill say

16-14 Panthers, our defense intercepts the young QB on the cusp of putting them in FG range at the end of the game

If you don't think Fox would personally enjoy sticking it to the two guys that handed him the 2010 season.....

I personaly dot give a fug what Fox has to say, get the run game going and control the game for W.

Need to start racking up wins, Philly is going to lose couple of game and we can take #1 Seed for NFC still.

Fox is going to make it tough for us. He always builds a strong defense and we're going to be facing a rookie QB with almost no tape on him -- no studying his tendencies or even knowing what the crap he can do.

That makes this game a shaky one for us and doesn't Chicago have some spark in the running game?

This is going to be a tough one. Hoping we win.

The Panthers match up perfectly against the Bears. Our strengths are their weaknesses.

If we lose to the Bears, we’re not a playoff team. Simple as that.

Also, the Falcons do not have a better offense than us. That one you saw against Miami is the same one you saw against the Bears, Bills, and Lions. A trash, vanilla offense of mush. Big Ben was also very inaccurate.

I expect a blowout. A good solid game from us. If we can’t even convincingly win, I’d be very worried.

    • My issue too is form Icky to Hunt you would have had young studs under contract control for the next 3 years, unreal if you have that on a NFL team.
    • I maybe huffin the hopuim too much for the defense during 2 games winning.   If DJ played like that each game(??), DBrown, Turlte, ARob(who's been like Dbrown), clowny   That's a solid front 5, or is it too much homer huffin??   Then Jewell and Shaq   Again solid, not trash or elite.   Horn(heathly) Mike Jackson. Dane Jackson, Woods, and Fuller   I swear the "solid" enough feels are here again   Of course Id love to drop a elite edge and have DJ come off the bench or another stud CB, but I swear if that group was 100% healthy I feel they'd be around 18th best. (yes still need a true NT).  Please correct me.
    • You are probably right, but as long as he goes to Dallas, and not here, it will be fun to watch.  Or better yet, New Orleans.
