What is the Panthers biggest issue, and how do we fix it?

I've never been a John Matsko fan, and Ken Dorsey doesn't have the cred to be a QB coach.

But the biggest problem really is Rivera.  He's a great defensive mind and would make a fine DC, but he's a terrible talent evaluator and frankly, he's in over his head as a head coach.  Likable and respectable as he is, he just doesn't have the right skill set.

Plus there's his inability to find good personnel in the area of offensive coaching.  Fire only Shula and Rivera will probably install someone else just like him.

I'm not really sure how you can judge Dorsey that way when Cam, when healthy has played great this year. I know he's not some "big name" QB coach, but you cannot say he's done a bad job. Lets not forget that this is the same coaching staff that brought us the MVP season from Cam, which is nothing to laugh at or discount. Heck, Sean McVay, the Rams head coach doesn't have the cred to be a head coach, but still doesn't change the fact that he single handedly turned that team around and has his team rolling at the moment, look at his credentials they're terrible. (off topic I know)

I pointed out last year, that expecting Shula to get Fired one season removed from 2015 was expecting too much, especially when the GM caused most of the Problems(yes Gettleman did in the 2016 team). and Same thing with Shula, hate him as much as we do, and I will be screaming when I see the stretch run plays with Stewart when it happens, again...... But, he's not going anywhere before the season is over at the earliest, so yeah water is wet.

biggest problem is rivera and his sit on a lead, passive nature.

2nd. is the secondary

3rd the execution in run blocking by guys who are suppose to be considered top guards.

a feasible trade can be made for secondary help, the run blocking however, it's all up the the players to do there job.

I think our run game needs to use the speed we have in CMC and Samuel.  I still beat my drum on the option play we used in the first quarter which gained I believe 11 yds and yet we didn't run it again.  I think we need to use more of the misdirection in the running game.  We have to spread that defense out.  We are about as obvious as you can get in the running game.

Shula needs to put the dad's old offensive playbook away and come back to the future.

Easily the biggest problem is the run game, it's the sole reason we lost. Cam should never throw the ball 50 times in a game, not even 40. Scheme, playcalling, Shula or whatever the huddle collective loves to say around here isnt the root of the problem. Running the ball is what all lineman should want to do, they get to run into the defenders rather than back up and protect. It is all mentality, our guys havent have it the last couple weeks. I place it on Ron having them mentally prepared wanting to smash the other team. Maybe getting Kalil back will help but Im not sure thats the answer.

I've been saying this for a while. Shula left that  running style in 2015 when it worked so well

The interior of our oline is getting beat.  Some of that is Kalil being out. To me, it seems like they're getting beat off the snap. Not use to seeing that with out guys.  So their effort and blocking needs to improve.

Play calling on 1st downs need to be mixed up more, to take advantage of teams loading up the box.
