Kuechly didn't have a concussion to begin with.

Does that answer the questions as to why he missed the remainder of the game?

Overly cautious.

Which means that the Panthers have a coaching and medical staff who care about the health and well-being of, at the very least, their starting MLB.

(Now I don't think you can convince me that they exhibit the same level of care about the health and well-being of another very important player on the team.)

If you read both tweets fully they don't necessarily conflict.

Schefter really only says the Panthers don't believe he suffered a concussion.  The problem with his report is claiming he has cleared protocol.  Those are two different things. Someone wanted the positive outlook info out there.

Panthers can't openly speculate on his status while he's in the protocol so Drummond is clarifying that.

they are going to wait a couple of days to be absolutely certain but reading between the lines, I'd expect him to be cleared midweek.

this

in "concussion protocol" means they are monitoring you for concussion or concussion like syptoms. Because some concussions take days to manifest AND given that we have a long break AND given the Keek's importance and his hx. it's highly likely they are keeping him in protocol to make absolutely sure

So many neurologists on the Huddle.

Yep, but there are three people I know of who have been around recently that either have an MD or other medical degree/license relative to neurological and cognitive assessment, and not one has posted jumping to any concrete diagnostic conclusion yet (which no one can do via the interwebs)...other than that he's in the protocol, it's a concussion protocol, and now that he's in it, he has to go through the five stages. Aside from the whack(s) he took, in addition to that observation, he got a sideline assessment and an extensive one in the locker room. Few know the results, aside from the obvious: He's in the protocol, and still was as of this morning. The website playsmartplaysafe.com has a ton of info for those who want, you know, actual facts.

Shefter changed his story to say technically not cleared protocol . He sticks by team sources saying no concussion occurred

"

The Panthers announced Sunday that Kuechly remains in the protocol and needs to go through a series of steps before being cleared to play. The concussion protocol requires a player to pass five levels of tests before he is cleared.

But all tests conducted on Kuechly since Thursday night's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles have not revealed another concussion, sources said."

I don't know who started the concussion thing to begin with, watching the replay over and over, it was clear he didn't have one.  He was holding his clavicle after and went to the locker room under his own power, concussion issues they walk you to the locker room... made zero sense to me

Physicians deamed it worth putting him in the protocol to find out

The Panthers started it by putting him in the protocol.
