Kuechly didn't have a concussion to begin with.

Prefacing it with the fact that he is the team's PR guy would make it immediately legit. There's a glut of Twitter sources out there and they just don't seem legit without some sort of credentials. Now I Know.

But then I couldn't use the LMGTY site and it's less fun.

Drum is the one who would know. However, I'm a little skeptical for my own reasons. Regardless, I respect Drum and his word so I take that 100% of the time over ESPN's.

If you read both tweets fully they don't necessarily conflict.

Schefter really only says the Panthers don't believe he suffered a concussion.  The problem with his report is claiming he has cleared protocol.  Those are two different things. Someone wanted the positive outlook info out there.

Panthers can't openly speculate on his status while he's in the protocol so Drummond is clarifying that.

they are going to wait a couple of days to be absolutely certain but reading between the lines, I'd expect him to be cleared midweek.

Could just mean that Luke has not been cleared by the doctor, the last step in clearing him. Usually happens the friday or saturday before the game.

Would this keep him out of practice?  Or is there a step that includes practice such that it can be used as part of the evaluation?

Luke doesn't need to be at practice more than Thursday and Friday...or really just Friday. I would imagine they'll slow play this as much as possible to be sure.

Actually, Person may be right. I read the protocol, well, more like scanned it, after this started, and IIRC, you flunk on sideline, you go to the lockers and get more tests. Fail baseline or show obvious symptoms there, you're in the protocol. Once in, there's no easy out. Other than same day return prohibition, stages aren't time limited, but you have to go through all of them.

    • OK, so this is a bit weird.  When I coached at Salisbury High School when I first started teaching, I used to go over to Catawba College to watch film and talk football with their coaches.  They were great. Curtis, Jalon's father, I assume, was a LB at Catawba and hired as LB coach by Bennett When Coastal started their program, they hired Catawba's coach Bennett.  Bennett must have taken Jalen's father with him to Coastal. I am guessing that is about the time Jalon was born and why he was in Conway. So then his father comes back to Salisbury after Jalen is born and takes the head coaching job. Jalen is a good interview.  I love the kid based on this, and I have heard good things from former colleagues of FB.  Salibury (when I was there) was a very rough school.  Gangs, drugs, etc.  To put it in perspective, I was there for 2.5 years and I had four (4) students in my class (at different times) who committed murder during that time. A girl was raped in the gym by a few boys.  One night, after a game (there is a road between the coaches offices in the gym and the rest of the school) the coaches watched film until 1 AM or so.  When we were leaving to walk to our cars parked across that street, we noticed a car sitting in the middle of the road about 100 yards away with its lights off.  The driver took off when we neared the street, so we all hit the ground.  As the car passed, we heard about 6 or 7 gunshots.  The next day, the van behind where we fell to the ground had 2 bullet holes in it, about 5 feet above the ground.  All that to say this:  If the young man on the video endured anything like that, I want him to succeed and I found it interesting that he mentioned playing for the Panthers.  I am not sold on the player as a fit here based on our needs, but I am sold on the person.  Very proud of him for some reason that many may not understand.
    • First off, he's not even eligible for a contract yet.  You have to play three years. And thank goodness! All we saw last year were glimpses.  Yes, those glimpses were enough that I think every fan wants to see him come back next year.  But bottom line is that so far, with only a couple games worth of exceptions, he hasn't yet shown that he's a FRANCHISE QB.  He hasn't shown the consistent ability to elevate the players around him. He could be the guy.  After week two of this year, just saying that much is a massive, massive positive swing.  But let's see him put it together for 17 games.  Let's see him make the people around him BETTER.  Then we can talk about extending him. Let's not lose sight of the fact that thus far in his career, in no season has BY exceeded the rookie stats of MAC JONES. We should  be excited for the possibility, but we certainly haven't seen yet what we need to see to declare we have our guy.
    • People cared as it was happening, but after a year or two, most people had moved on. There was no public outcry to bring the NBA back to Charlotte, it just happened.
