I'm just in a bad mood (very general rambling rant on the team)

I believe we are better than the Eagles. We gave them the victory. Between the turnovers, running when it's obviously not working, and using Shaq to try and play those slot guys, we just played right into their damned hands.

Sometimes you just have to do what makes sense. If you want to throw to your RB, why would you throw to Stew as opposed to CMC? I mean, your running game wasn't working anyway and you weren't fooling anyone, so keep CMC in the game and let him catch. Even if you want to be a rock head, why not put Cam Artis-Payne in to see if he could get a semblance of a run game going?

And then on the other side of the ball, you have Shaq just being abused play after play after play. At some point, you have to say that he's not working out back there as a slot corner. Perhaps it'd make better sense to turn him into a box safety with his skill set. And, speaking of the safety position, I'm far from impressed. Coleman can't get back soon enough, but that won't save us from Adams. Give us the damned Byrd! And not the Worley Byrd! Obviously Worley is the weakest link of our corners, but I'm still trying to figure out how in the hell Mack Hollins is able to find two soft spots amid what looked like the better part (or worst part) of our secondary for not one, but two key completions at crucial times. We let them off the hook!

My stars, man, the more and more I think about Dave Gettleman, the more I think that he just made too many luxury picks while potholes were filled with sand.

One of the big things about our paper evolution was the injection of talent at slot receiver. Our slot guys are hardly getting any play! All of Rivera's talk about the slot and its emergence in our offense is nowhere to be found. This was game fuging six, you have to get your second round, versatile weapon in there for more than a few screens, gadget plays or returns (that never happen because the kicks are out the end zone). You just have to. Moreover, if Samuel is the one with the speed, why not let him try and take the top off the defense sometimes---any time?

And then there are those who assured us that "Luke will be fine."   Of course the wise among us knew that it was total bullshit when it was being said, but that's why people should do a self reality check when manifesting what amounts to soft trolling when people quite logically tell you that there are limits to optimism. Concussions are real, and for you to say otherwise is sheer stupidity.

Anyway, let me stop rambling. The rollercoaster ride moves on smoothly until the next loop.

I have no idea why we paid Captain Munnerlyn top money for a nickelback and then just leave him sitting gonna the bench while Shaq gets smoked by slot receivers. I can't put that on Shaq. You can't expect a LB to cover a  WR. As soon as the QB sees that match up he has a hard time containing his excitement.

Because there is ineptitude top to bottom.

It's so fuging infuriating.

Don't get me wrong, I blame Wilks, but I still see Shaq's limitations. I just don't believe he can fill the plan that we had for him when we over-drafted him.

To add on to the rant, why the fug did we draft CMC if were gonna use Stewart on sweeps and screens? It was just an overall bad game all the way around and we still had two chances to win it. I'm not sold on either team being contenders at this point.

Isn't that stupid? You have an aged Stewart, or a young and spry CMC, and you use Stew on the sweeps and screens. WTF is really going on? What's happening?

This is not a leading question. What to most teams do? Are most playing nickle defense predominantly? I know we used to.

I was at the game last night and I was completely dumbfounded with some of the play calling decisions. Where is the evolution we were supposed to be seeing?

A quick Google says that nickel was used in 63.4% of plays by NFL defenses during the 2015 season. I could probably dig and find more recent data but I'm lazy and that's good enough for me right now.

i think we've got the talent to go all the way.

the problem is mismanagement.

good management finds the best way to use the resources at hand. that just isn't happening.

There are guys that are smart enough to play a reactive game of Chess, and others who can play a game where they plan six moves ahead.

To be a successful NFL head coach, you need to be a "six move ahead" guy.

Rivera is not that guy.
