What's the deal with Shaq continually being asked to cover slot receivers?

The issue is that WRs are getting free release with him playing so soft, I think if they have him cover a receiver they need to let him press or play close enough to Jam the WRs

If the WR beats the jam (LBs beat OL blocks all of the time, not out of the realm of the ordinary for a WR to beat an LB's jam), then they're likely going to leave him in the dust behind them.

Playing soft allows him to keep the play in front of him and utilize his closing speed.

Wouldn't mind if it was a TE that he was jamming or a slew-footed WR, but if you want him to jam Antonio Brown you're out of your mind.

Also, in this case it's the slot guy that we're talking about (in regards to this specific topic). Slot guys are commonly off of the LOS in order to avoid being jammed.

He has better chance of jamming and staying with WRs than standing still trying to recover.

That touchdown in the 4th qtr was all due to soft coverage there is no way you can cover staying still with his size , he needs to be on the line playing physical.

Oh yea no poo he wouldn't cover Brown , #24 would be hadling that.
