Unfortunately he's been put in..actually...it'd be interesting to see KB_FAN here do the stats on this but it seems that Cam has been put in more 3rd and 10+ situations than anyone else in the league in the last 7 years. I'd actually like to know those stats.

Good question.  I'll see what I can do for you on this over the weekend.

But I've definitely noticed a decrease in our 3rd & longs the past 2 weeks.   Reminds me of some of our best games in 2015 when our 1st to 3rd down ratio was really high.

Hopefully I can get you some of these stats.  I'm curious myself to look at the numbers.

@Fox007 @Saca312...

I haven't had a chance to research Cam's down & distance stats in terms of number of 3rd & 10+ situations he's faced (would welcome ideas where to find specific down & distance stats..., don't see that they're included at Pro Football Reference, but I've not done a lot of digging yet...)

BUT, here's a look at average number of 3rd downs per game for each season with Cam.  So interesting to see the difference between 2011 - 2013 and seasons since 2014.  I guess you call that the Smitty effect?

Just in case it's not obvious, a high ranking (6th) is worse.  In general, the fewer 3rd downs per game the better, (although a lot of 3 & out drives could mess up that stat.  3rd downs would be few, but the team offense would be unproductive...), these stats need to be paired with 3rd down conversion percentage & drives per game too.  I'll try to do that later today.

In any case, it looks like the numbers of 3rd downs this season are trending in the right direction (decreasing).  Hope to have more data in the coming days.

Here's a look at the Panthers season averages for 3rd down conversion % under Cam.  In 5 of the Panthers 7 seasons with Cam at QB (including 2017), Carolina has been in the top 10 in terms of 3rd down conversion %.  Only last season in 2016 have the Panthers been in the bottom half of the league in that stat:

Stats for both 3rd down conversion % and Avg. # of 3rd downs per game are from Team Rankings:

He threw that receiver open well actually he was well covered he just threw a hellava pass that was put only were the beast could get it so yout right he was totally covered.

With how well KB Funchess and Dickson are playing I really hope Shula uses Samuel as deep threat. Kid could be completely open. Hands down teams have been stacking the box yet we are still beating it with exceptional play.

Back in the offseason of 2014, PFF did a comprehensive analysis of QB stats from the 2013 season, looking specifically at various down & distance scenarios.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/qbs-in-focus-by-down-and-distance

There's a section on 3rd & 10+...  I won't have any chance today to review & digest any of these stats or look for similar stats from other seasons...  Busy schedule the rest of today.

Average length of pass down, completion % up, it's almost like there's a correlation or something.

It's almost as if some of us have been right all along about Cam needing protection and better play calling. I'm not sure Shula's the one designing and calling these plays.  I think some of it might be Turner's influence.

Lol the never ending debate.

I'd say Pokemon is the better franchise, but Digimon Anime kicks Pokemon's ass. :100_Emoji_42x42:

I mean... they are still making Pokémon anime 20 years later. Lol. I don’t watch it, but I’m still playing Pokémon games 20 years later too. Lol. Working my way back through Yellow as we speak.

Digimon ran for like a year and then fell off the face of the earth ;)
