Fun, sport, meat, trophy?

providing healthy food for my family. that's the only reason i do it. i won't deny it's exciting, but the gravity of the situation never escapes me. it's a life and i think if more people put a face to what they were eating, they would appreciate it more (not take it for granted).

we try to use as much food off the land as possible, we try to keep a pretty big garden (but the deer and this one groundhog make it a challenge) and we've got a lot of blueberry bushes, several apple and peach trees (plus a couple pear trees), i think 8 grape vines (another favorite of the deer).

Good morning ladies and gents and welcome to another weekend of football! What is on your menu for college gameday today and Panther's football tomorrow? I want to see meats and cheeses and boiled celery (wait wot) and carbs carbs carbs. Please don't forget your beverage of choice.

Today I'll be going to a beer festival with my friends and imbibing in copious amounts of stouts & porters. There are food trucks on site so maybe a bratwurst or a mac and cheese grilled cheese. We shall see. Tomorrow is still up in the air so I'll be looking in here for idea. So show us what you've got Huddle and remember..... PICS ARE ENCOURAGED!

Also if you see your lady friend in the kitchen making you some delicious food. Throw her some compliments.

Amazing how threads like these with little to do about the play on the field are welcomed and mine aren't. Wow.

Couldn't agree more. If people actually had to kill, clean and process their own meat, there would be a lot more vegetarians in this country.

I don't know, once you get use to it, doesn't seem like such a big deal.  I worked as a Butcher many years ago.  Never impacted my desire for meat at all.  Although it did reinforce my desire to never eat Calves Liver.  Also once helped to get a pig ready for a bbq.  Watched the farmer kill it, I helped clean and cook it.  It was great.

I do remember picking green beans out of my mom's garden a few times, and swore I would never eat the things again.  That lasted at least a few weeks.  :)

And a lot more people.  All this processed food is killing us off.
