Hall to IR, Southward to active roster

If I'm not mistaken, Hall returned to practice this week. The knee probably flared up on him again.

I was actually hoping he'd make the final 53 roster, so I wouldn't be against this. I also think this will happen after they finally find out which four of the 12 safeties we have right now can actually play as a starter for special teams and be a backup for the defense. (Looking at you Jones.... yeah, no, you ain't it).

Did Gettleman sabotage Hall into having an injury?

Well we could have had Carl Lawson who is killing it with the Bengals. Gettleman loves his height/weight prototypes though

Probably not 100% comfortable with Byrd this week.  Cox and Coleman injured.  Byrd just signed.  And Jones is a situational player.  While 11 DBs is an unusual number you probably don't want to ask Byrd to get off the couch and play the whole game off of a week of practice.  You also can't ask Jones to play a load of snaps and still play on every special teams snap.  Coleman's injury kinda put us in a bind.

Jones better not see the field on defense Sunday. Southward and Byrd are good enough until Coleman returns. One of them could even take Adams' job then too.

    The Lions top 3 picks have barely seen the field. The #1 overall pick has barely seen the field. It ain't just us.

Hall played only 9 snaps up until he was on IR. 

 

It isn't like he was contributing at all to begin with. The Panthers need safety help like crazy.
