Great Job Pep...5th in sacks so far.

Can we just all sit back and realize what we're watching so far this year?  Julius Peppers has 4.5 sacks right now going into week 5.  He's currently sitting at 5th in the NFL.  What doesn't show up in that number is his ability to stop the run.  The man is 37 years old.  That's unbelievable.

Yep. It's not even just the sacks, he's consistently pressuring the quarterback and maintaining the edge in stopping the run.

On the other hand, what has happened to Charles Johnson???

I still believe, no matter how many Myles Garrett and Mario Williams the NFL will see, that Pep was the most freakish athlete I have ever seen entering the league. The fact that he's still doing it at 37 is only a surprise in the sense that his body has held up. I believed the rhetoric at the time that Peppers wasn't the hardest worker in the offseason and that turned out to be total trash by people who were frustrated that he wasn't getting 3 sacks a game. You saw Garrett getting the same treatment in the predraft process. Peppers has created a HOF legacy and there are still so many "what if?" scenarios for him. He's just a pretty mellow dude and people couldn't justify that against the beast he is on Sunday.

Addison should be getting damn near 100% of the snaps on the other side.  He needs to get it going. Horton has fine as usual. I'd rather rotate him with Pep than to have CJ out there. Haven't been impressed with Cj at all so far. It looks like he is doing some light walkthroughs or something - just immediately being engaged, stood-up, and nullified. Seems like he is lacking the ability to create pressure or shed a blocker.

The sacks, defending the run, etc. have all been great fun to watch and not at all a surprise. I sincerely hope that he has a banner year and goes out on top. His departure never felt right, but his homecoming sure does. What we're seeing is something special. The coolest thing about it is the insider insights that have been posted here on the Huddle. Seems coming home is pretty special to Pep too. Fun for all, except opposing quarterbacks. Last Sunday, my wife shocked me with more evolving football savvy. After a Brady sack she blurted out, "Greg who?"

My concern is that when he gets into the HOF he will be thought of a bear and a packer just as much as a panther.

Anyone else feel this concern?

Maybe if he had retired elsewhere but I highly doubt that now. This comeback cements his legacy as a Panther for anyone who may have forgotten.

Only a little, if that. He's from NC, went to school and played at UNC, started with the Panthers, and will finish here. He's Carolina blue through and through. Nah, not worried at all actually.
