PFF's top graded guard for the week...

If Norwell makes the probowl this year it probably means we are having a DAMN good season for him to get noticed and voted for.

I'll take it with pleasure and worry about his contract in the offseason!

I truly want us to find a way to keep Norwell & Star both.  Realize it will be hard, and made much more complicated by our murky GM situation.  But for now the possibility of having too many good players to be able to pay them all is a GOOD problem to have.

Each year, the cap grows and even with attendance down a bit this year, I don't think that will change. Hopefully between the cap expansion money and a retiring vet or two, we can get deals made with both Norwell and Star. Strong and cohesive O-lines and D-lines determine the longevity of good teams.

If Norwell makes the probowl and Matt Kalil continues to look bad, Kalil will have looked bad while playing next to a probowl guard.

Not a good look.

Watched a few of his bad plays.  The Oline as a whole is bad when against stunts of any kind.  Kalil doesn't seem physically limited, most of the plays he gets beat just look like he didn't know who he was supposed to block.  Hopefully as the year goes on he will play better.

I'd still rather pay him to protect Cam than Star.

As much as I'd like for the team to find a way to keep both without breaking the bank, I will have to agree with you.  Exceptionally good offensive linemen are really hard to come by.  And while the same came be said of defensive linemen, a very good OG is something you must have.  We currently have a pretty good rotation on the DL, not so much on the OL.  So if it comes down to one or the other, I'd have to say I hope we keep Norwell.  I'd really hate to see Star go elsewhere, but sometimes those things are unavoidable.
