So Who You Got? Panthers @ Lions

Bob - Ford Field, where opposing fans can buy large blocks of 100 level tickets, can't possibly be as tough/loud as a place like Gillette where we had to pay $300+ for uppers.

Lions fans, like Detroit sports fans across the board, are loud. Ford Field wasn't designed to amplify crowd noise like other places, but it's loud. Lions fans are loud, at least when they have something to cheer for.

But why? Genuinely asking. Why is any player "due" for anything.

In this specific case, is the Panther defense especially opportunistic? Are the corners or safeties considered ball hawks? Not poo-talking at all, genuinely curious. I really don't know much about the Panthers other than what it shows on box scores and stats sheets.

yeah the defense forces tons of turnovers. unreal amount of dropped INTs and at least one timely pick six. position is there multiple times a game, just no follow-through. at some point they'll progress to the mean. stafford's been on a streak - eventually he'll regress to the mean, at least for a game.

i hope these fluctuations intersect sunday.

All comes down to which Carolina Panthers team shows up.

The one we saw last week, we win a nailbiter 24-23 that includes a CMC TD.

Otherwise, watch the O-line collapse and the defense allow too many 3rd down conversions to an ugly 31-13 loss.

All due respect, I generally put no stock in the opinions of anyone who uses things like 'progress/regress to the mean' as an argument for forecasting possible outcomes.

I was curious about turnovers since the Panthers only have 1 INT and 1 fumble recovery on the year. Are the drops coming from everywhere, or is it like the same 1 or 2 people every time?

Coming from everybody, even Luke, which is very uncharacteristic. If they start catching even 25% more, which would still be less than years past, the turnover numbers will go way up.

why? trends alone aren't predictive but you can pair them with qualitative data to model outcomes

my models predict stafford will eat his own shit sunday

So we were able to get 300+ all in the same section because your fans are too cheap to buy them and would rather pay less to stand? Kewl!

Now, to be fair. We are talking about one of the most depressed areas in the Country. Sure we are clawing back. But let's not forget what has happened to that area.

Offering cheap tickets is one heck of a way to get some of those Lions fans into the game, that would not normally have a chance to go.

All things considered. Hard to expect a full stadium up there.

TJ Jones and Kenny Golladay. Jones only seem to appear out of thin air when Detroit desperately needs yards. 3rd and long with 0:27 left down by 4 points? Jones shows up and just makes catches. The rest of the time, I assume he's somewhere eating nachos on the sidelines. Golladay has a ton of potential, but is a raw rookie who missed time with a hamstring injury. He  had some big catches against Arizona, but barely showed up against NY and Atlanta.

Either way you guy are toast:shades:

Contextually, the Panthers had 1 FF and 1 INT against the 49ers, who haven't really scored much nor driven much.

Against the Bills, they only had one first down through the first three quarters. Not much opportunities for takeaways when we nearly stone-walled them all game.

Against the Saints, Luke Kuechly dropped an interception and we had 2 more opportunities.

Against the Patriots, we had like 3-4 missed interception opportunities as well.

It's coming from everyone.
