Butker misses first NFL FG to tie game.

Gano WILL lose us games this year, especially with how Rivera calls games.   That's the sad part.     He panned out 1 out of 10 times for us, but we'll wish we would have took the rookie by year's end probably.    Also, much cheaper.

One game vs how many Gano has cost us? The loss to Denver last season was worth at least 10 missed kicks.

How many games has Butker cost KC?

It was a 56 yarder that he hit the first time. It's not like it was a 36 yarder. Gano did not cost us that game, at best he would have made a very long one to win it.

Gano was on the radio yesterday saying he was on 7th different holder since the SB at that time trying to work it out. Right now he is filled with confidence and was saying he hopes every game comes down to him. He's going to miss some but I really think he is going to have a good year.

I’m not judging based off of one miss. Probably won’t judge the kid if he misses a few. Just wanted to opportunity to prove it to some of you that you don’t know it all. If he would have missed that shot for us mid game to tie most of this forum would have went into a meltdown and made 4 separate different threads about how releasing Gano and keeping a rookie were some of the dumbest decision making in franchise history. Just looking for a little consistency with this place and finding out that’s not happening any time soon.

What you wound up more successfully illustrating what is that you don't know it all, and you made yourself look foolish in the process. Now, if Butker goes on to have a good season and Gano is inconsistent again, you'll have made yourself a target.

I'm not necessarily dead set on releasing Gano, but I do know the whole "keeping two kickers" thing was a foolish gambit. I also know that Gano has a history of inconsistency that has popped up at some inopportune moments. Worrying that that might happen again is a reasonable concern.

Bottom line: You don't win an argument on a small sample if the big picture doesn't match.

The point is to further yourself and your education. If you’re furthering your education, the goal is not to obtain as many degrees as possible. Probably won’t get you too far in this day and age which is probably why you’re so salty about it. I love my career which wouldn’t have been possible without 7 years of busting my ass after high school.

Congrats on the degree and marriage. I read this thread following, among other replies, your posts. I suspect you're young and full of optimism, and justifiably proud of your accomplishments so far. Nevertheless, you need to be prepared for some eye openers along the way. First, that doctorate guarantees you nothing in the future. I have one on the wall, plus abd for another, and so many other certs and licenses most people have a hard time believing it. These things open a few doors perhaps, but what counts is how you act after walking through those doors. Secondly, it doesn't necessarily mean that you're smarter than anyone else. Some of the most successful people I've met only completed high school. Some of the dumbest? That group includes more than a few lawyers, physicians, and professors. Just observations from a guy who has been there, done that, and gotten the t-shirts. Prepare yourself grasshopper. No honeymoon lasts forever. There are many others out there just as educated, and, they are out to get you.

7th different holder?

I'm not sure the math works out on that one.

I was confused by that also but I unless I misunderstood, it sounded like he went through 7 different holder during the offseason between the SB and the Denver game maybe? I don't know what the holder situation was like at that time.  Below is a link to the interview if you have a few moments, maybe I heard it wrong.

It was an interesting interview. He mentioned that he told the coaches that he would be good from 55 yds out on the final drive vs the Pats and they got him more yds than he felt he needed. Also didn't know that he works out with Gostkowski in the off season and they are really good friends.

Big picture shows that Gano was once worth his pay. Overall, he’s been more consistent than not. Come see me after the season and we will see who has had the better year. I’ll eat my crow if I’m wrong, unlike most of you on here.

Clearly you don’t know me that well. The original quip was meant as a joke and I honestly could care less what people think of my education level. At the end of the day caring for my patients and them knowing that I care is what improves my outcomes—not my doctorate. I don’t even introduce myself as doctor. I use my first name. I have a lot to learn along the way but don’t lump me in with the rest of this millennial generation of self-absorbed pricks because I’m not one of them.

On another note, I appreciate the congrats.

Don’t use logic in here. It doesn’t work.
