Cam Newton's stats are pretty good for a guy with a bum shoulder

3-1 record, 65.2% completion percentage, 972 yards of offense (882 passing, 90 rushing), and 7 touchdowns.

Cam is only going to get better from here. If he plays like he did yesterday all year, this might be his best year yet.

He played well but can he continue to complete passes with a better pass rush? He still didn't handle pressure well on the rare occasion it was applied.

It was a positive sign for certain.

I mean, I guess I see what you mean. But man, he completed 75% of his passes. What more do you want from him?

Tell me if you've heard this one before:

With 1/4 of the season complete, Cam Newton is the only player on the team with a rushing TD (he has two).

"Power rushing team" indeed.

That 65% completion rate is what I'm looking at. I want him to continue improving, but I'd be giddy as hell if he stays around there

I think the improvement in completion percentage has a lot to do with how we have been utilizing McCaffrey.  A lot more short passes to running backs, with fewer downfield bombs.  One of the reasons Cam has had the relatively low completion percentage in the past was due to our style of offense, heavy run and throw it deep.   That is why I didn't worry much about Cam's completion percentage being low in the past.   And I think we also have a more surehanded and veteran group of receivers now.

To handle pressure better. He wouldn't have completed that many passes under more pressure. Or maybe he would. If he was 75% with more pressure that would be MVP Cam.

Again, I get what you are saying. Again, he completed 75% of his passes. You can only critique Cam for the games he has played.

The Bills, and ain'ts, have a decent to good pass rush. And yesterday he was harassed pretty goodly as well. The 49ers? Maybe not so much. So far this year Cam is at right at 65%. Considering he started slowly, physically, and has faced plenty of pressure. I would say he is trending in the right direction.

If Cam continues to complete passes at even close to this range. (65%-70%) We are going to be a tough out.

Bingo. That, and better OL play, makes all the difference in the world. Add in fewer brain farts from Shula, not to mention some spectacular plays and good calls, and you have some key ingredients for success. On top of the overall effect of just being on the field, CMC is just over 75% on catch rate (which was, and easily could again be 5% higher), at ten yards per. A minority of us here have been calling for more screens, check downs, slot routes etc. for a few years, but all we heard was that Cam couldn't make those throws, which never made one lick of sense to me. Slice 'em and dice 'em Cam, run when you need to, and keep confusing the crap out of defenders like you did on the Fozzy TD. I really want to see that again...and again.

PS - At the right times, let's get back to some of that no huddle hurry up style too. String a series of that together and leave us fans, and opposition defenders, absolutely breathless.
