Where We Currently Stand in the NFC 1/4 Season Point

We are currently tied with the Falcons, Eagles, Lions, Packers, and Rams at 3-1 for the best record in the conference. You might add the Redksins to that list if they somehow manage to beat the  undefeated Kansas City Cheifs on Monday Night Football tomorrow .  We play all those other 3-1 teams besides the Rams this season.  Lions next Sunday, Eagles on Thursdays. We're doing pretty good but so are 5 other teams in the conference. We'll have a much better outlook on the developing playoff picture at the halfway and 3/4 mark of the season, but at least we have a good feel of who's who in our conference in the early going. Next week might be rough , you think we can win both games and establish ourselves as one of the power teams in the conference?

Next week will show what the Panthers really are this season.  I hope we get the bounces.  These first four games have fortunately considering our record been almost practice games as far as planning is concerned.

Edit:  I fuged up my punctuation; figure it out.

lions are probably the class of the NFC right now. that defense is legit.

stop. no.

Lions defense has been rather lucky. Only decent offense they faced were the Falcons, and the Falcons predictably won even with their large sample of mistakes.

I'm not worried about that defense at all. Sure, better Dline than the Patriots, but worse than the Saints imo.

Their offense has also been lucky in terms of Stafford getting breaks. Vikings started cracking open Stafford this weekend, we'll likely see more of that from the Panthers defense.

Oh, and Julius Peppers getting 3+ sacks on OT Greg Williams lol. Our defense is going to murder him.

What I'm more concerned about is our game against the Eagles. They have a legitimate pass rush that could stall our offense if Daryl Williams is still a starter.

Williams has been solid this year.

I thought this week was supposed to show what the Panthers are this season?  Is this just gonna be a rolling thing this this year?

I'll say this, I was down on us being a legit contender after NO.  I hadn't given up hope, but I went from being 95% sure we'd win every week to hoping we win the next game.  However, today's game was the type that we lose every year since Ron has been here....except 2015. Close game, comes down to the end, and because of stupid decisions on Ron & co.'s part and/or fugups by individuals (Deangelo fumbles, Kicker shanks, Nakamuras, etc) we end up losing at the very end. This one game had a sprinkle of that 2015 magic. We've been stung by the injury bug (I won't say bitten, because it hasn't been as bad as some other teams) but if we can stay relatively healthy for the rest of the year and get Olsen back for the last 6-8 games, I say we have a real chance.

What made you think that?  Anyone paying attention would see NE is having a down year.  Yeah we can play with playoff teams but can we win enough tough games to win it all?

if the panthers can go into detroit and sneak away with a victory, the Panthers will be on everyone's radar going forward

Well they are middle of the pack in yardage but what they are doing well is pass rushing and getting turnovers.  They are definately a formible team and literally 1 inch from undefeated.

Its pretty amazing we are 3-1 with a minus 5 turnover margin right now.  Detroit is #1 at +9

It was a common line around here for a while. I wouldn't call this a down year for NE, just not one of the years they get 14 or 16 wins and steamroll their way through the league. I would call an 8 win year a down year. I'd say it will play out to be their usual 11-12 win year.
