Better protection, but more importantly, getting healthier. I think it was said Cam finally had a whole week with full participation, and it showed BIG time. You know Cam is almost 100% when the designed runs come out.

Saints also came right out and punched us in the mouth, NE settled for their first FG on an opening drive this season so Cam didn't have to press as much. He looked much more relaxed from the beginning.

I can forgive the defense. It's tough to hold a hall of fame QB to under 30 points. Tackling was something to be worked on though, and stopping that run game too. Need to focus on shutting down the run game going forward. I thought Bradberry looked great.

The entire offense didn't revolve around Christian is one thing I've noticed. Other than that Cam practicing this week, and better protection.

I've never seen our pass pro this good. Every.. Of course I'm talking before trash juice came in the game.

to be honest this is the first game that it seemed the "quick offense" was actually working - Cam got the ball out quick on often short routes that would be broken off for big gains.  It slowed the pass rush down and gave him time to connect some deep balls.  Protection held up.  And this was with almost no run g ame other than a few nice runs by Stew.

also there were several cases where it was clear Cam called an audible into a positive yardage play.  Good on him there.

Another underrated aspect was, we were FINALLY getting to the line with 15 seconds left. Gave Cam enough time to change calls, make the proper checks at the line, and dissect the defense pre-snap, something that was non-existent first 3 weeks.

I'd say it was as simple as Larsen getting snaps with the ones all week, and our O Line looking better for it. Give Cam time, no matter how rusty, and he'll give you a better product on the field. No one looked lost like the NO game for our line, save when Trai got hurt and Silo had to come in on the quick. Even then, it was just one snap (which, admittedly, could have been costly), and they rebounded the next few downs very well.

 

Overall, great job improving this week by the O Line, and better job of Cam making sure to use the time wisely from the second quarter on.

I think Cam Newton was healthy, he was able to practice the majority of the week and it showed today. Also, give credit to Shula, had a good game plan and play with good tempo.

IMO, the early plays, especially FW's touchdown, gave him some confidence.  New England's terrible first half d played a role in that definitely, but its the NFL.  You take the win and move on.
