Gano missing that XP won us the game

This does not absolve him at all.

But it still won us the game. Allow me to explain. If he hits the XP we're up 31-16. Let us assume that Brady and the Patriots somehow don't convert the 2 point attempt- which the way our defense was playing, I realize that's a long shot. So now the score is 31-29 and we're getting the ball back with 3 minutes to go, having surrendered two straight TD drives.

Let me rephrase: Ron Rivera is getting the ball back up by 2 with 3 minutes to play.

What does the Huddle think he does in this situation?

If you guessed, run it twice, ask Cam to convert on 3rd and long and fail, you are correct.

You can't predict what would have happened if he made the XP. The game would have played out differently is all you can say.

Normally, I would agree. But there's no reason why the game would have played it out any differently here. The 1 point difference doesn't make it a two-score game or anything, so no one is going to change play-calling. Pats still need 2 TDs, just now they need a 2 point conversion as well. The only liberty I am taking is positing the Patriots not converting on the 2 point attempt, which is admittedly a big liberty given how they had moved the ball at will on our defense.

This is mostly a tongue-in-cheek thread, though.

I poo on any "what if" threads because they are based off personal biases and use imagination to justify the bias.

There isnt much imagination here, just that the Pats miss the 2 point attempt.

    • 100%. But there are a lot of goofs in here that have so invested their entire supposed fandom on Bryce being trash that you can't even have a discourse with them. I'm glad there are still normies in this fanbase
    • I asked him for the last 5 weeks.
    • It matters because we're still not done paying for him and we've spent a ridiculous amount of resources to build around him. Granted, the FO hasn't been good at making picks, but what we've spent on offense while ignoring defense isn't sustainable. At some point Bryce has to be able to elevate the guys around him and work with what he's got.  I've made it no secret, I don't think he's a future franchise QB that takes this team to the SB. I think he gets you right on the cusp of playoff team, and maybe a weak division win or a WC, but serious deep runs aren't going to happen. I see him as the king of perpetual mediocrity. And in a couple of years we have to decide if we pay him like a franchise guy. We've paid lots of guys based on potential and it hasn't worked out well for us  We'll see if he has "it" and can lead the offense. But I think it's going to get interesting when we have to stop focusing on giving Bryce all the tools and put resources into the defense so that we don't have 3rd string and PS guys as our starters.  And as far as the Chiefs being 14-1, they've gotten more help from the refs this year than the Broncos in SB50.
