You can STFU about Funchess now

Devin made a few nice catches especially his first reception, when he fought through contact. It was really good to see.

Devin has looked a little different all year and IF this is the Devin we'll see moving forward than we certainly have a nice 1-2 punch.

You made this thread and then he dropped a gimme of what should've been a long TD. So don't be so quick to scream "look at me" with a "stfu" in the thread title like a 2 year old.

You can compliment Devin without bringing KB into this who had over 100 yards receiving himself. I know you struggle to comprehend stats when presented to you so do what you need to do to.

I don't know what two-year-olds say STFU, but whatever. Yeah, sometimes it just needs to be said, but if you can't discern that it's just a little tongue-in-cheek way to clown huddlers that have been dogging on players forever, that's OK. I told people I would start the thread, and I did. Some people have been dogging on Funchess forever when it was pretty much plain to me that he just needed more opportunity.

People can say what they want, but I said it a couple of times last year that Funchess was one of the few people who actually looked like he gave a damn out there. It was a shitty season and he was pressing and frustrated at times which made him try too hard. Perhaps he wasn't quite ready, but I believe the coaches gave up on the idea of turning him loose too early. In my mind, we really didn't have anything to lose last season when the writing was on the wall, but whatever, he's showing that he's a pro receiver this season. So, all the blatant and offhanded remarks about him being a bum (in so many words) can stop. He was never a bum to begin with.

As for KB, I don't get it. I've never stopped supporting KB. During last year's shitty season, he obviously wasn't fully back yet, but even still he produced. KB was pressing a little too. Between having to reengage himself in the game post injury probably a little earlier than what was practical or appropriate, and having to be reoriented into the offense in general, he was a little off---and all this while the wheels were coming off the entire offense.

Kevin nor Devin may not ever be 1400 yard receivers, but within this offense, we really don't need them to be. That's not how our offense has historically worked. My point about Kevin in a thread ostensibly about Devin, as I intimated earlier, is that they are not exact clones of one another. That's one of those Huddle myths. Though both are not the best route runners, they do well enough. KB is a beast using his size, while Fun Fun is improving in that area. Fun Fun is the more savvy route runner, though KB is improving in that area. Funchess also has a gear that Benjamin doesn't. They actually can complement each other, especially when there are other weapons with speed on the field to open things up.

So, I don't quite get trying to pit one against the other one. The offense can work, and work efficiently when everyone is on their game.

Funchess is showing marked growth this year, and not bad route running for a big 6'4" guy. He seems to be using that big frame to his advantage with regularity this season.

Who knew that a 23 year old receiver would show growth in year three? fuging amazing! Yes, let that sarcasm soak into the lining of your dome.

Funchess shows a lot of promise, and may actually be a matchup nightmare, especially with KB on the field.  See what can be when he's actually targeted in the passing game!

Funchess split out wide matched up on corner 1 (Butler essentially) and having KB in bunch sets and position where speed isn't a necessity is our best chance. KB is essentially a TE...run his routes as such and let Funch get down field. KB imo isn't capable of creating enough separation to stretch the field. Funch did that in a number of occasions...a couple where Cam just didn't pull the trigger.
