Hard Truths-GM Edition

Ron Rivera is a great man.

Ron Rivera is a good coach.

Ron Rivera inculcates a great locker room culture.

Ron Rivera is not in the top tier of coaches, but not the lowest

Ron Rivera will not survive 3 GMs and 4 GM changes.

End.

Prediction: 2018 will give us a new coach and new GM.  Hurney is not going to get it back as so many assume.

Now let's beat the sh*t out of New England.

If he wins a third COTY award, do you think he might make this list?

It's his lack of consistency that keeps him off the list...at least for now.  Also, we always start the year slowly and it take a while to get the gears going.  That's something the top coaches don't do.  Occasionally, sure, but not every year.  Even when we win early, is usually because we are fortunate to play a soft opening schedule which allows us to get away with not playing well (see 2015 and this year).  In order for Rivera to join the upper echelon of coaches, he needs to do a better job of getting the team ready to play right out of the gate.  We can't always count on a soft schedule to get us by until we start clicking.

Top coaches also don't field teams that play weaker in the second half.
