I'm remarking on the panic being shown and making fun of the Chicken Littles running around saying the sky is falling.

I've been a football fan since 1976 and I've had two teams in that whole time. The Atlanta Falcons (1976 -1994) and the Panthers from (1994 - the end of my days). Being a Falcon fan in the 70s and 80s probably toughened me up when it came to bad seasons. But really, I don't give up on my team. Especially after three games, only one of which is a loss.

The point of the post, as I stated was just to look ahead a few years and know that we have nothing in the hopper currently.  Not to "abandon ship!!!" or anything

It's past time to start thinking about the future in light of what's going on with Cam. The "new normal" is to treat him with kid gloves during practice because his body may be "breaking down." One of the plans to keep him healthy is to facilitate a transition from a running QB to a pocket passer. Cam thus far doesn't make the proper reads, when the pocket is not or is breaking down, and continues to force passes into coverage and refuses to take what the defense gives him, so this pocket passer thing thus far is not working out. It hasn't really worked out since around the Super Bowl, because Cam hasn't really been overly mobile since then. So, now we're stuck in a loop. We've got to improve protection---always---but Cam has to help the cause. It's not just about the line. With that said, we would be irresponsible not to look towards the future. You always need a plan B.

If you're looking at QB prospects, what about Baker Mayfield?

That said, do we really have faith in the current staff to actually develop a young quarterback?

Point is kind of moot in my mind.

True

I don't think I would ever let Ron R be in charge of another QB and their development.

New head coach and go from there

If we're drafting a QB in the first two rounds, there is no current staff.

Darnold is overrated

Rosen is definitely overrated.

Lamar Jackson is the clear QB1, and I don’t think it’s close.

Depends on who the next head coach might be.  Don't see Ron getting the chance to oversee another QB development

I'm not convinced of that.

The injury excuse is in play, and it'd be no shock to see Richardson express confidence that Hurney and Rivera will right the ship, given time.

(say, eleven years or so)

Damn... now that it's been mentioned what the hell was the thinking behind giving a guy like Rivera who has been 100% defense involved his entire life a kid like Cam?

Not even just Cam but any rookie QB for that matter.

You mean from the same team that put John Fox in charge of their quarterback choices?

Ha ya... our problems as an organization run so much deeper than "fire Shula", it's tough being a fan.

I guess we're stuck waiting out JR at this point.

Don't worry. The search for a new GM is sure to start sometime soon, right?

Right?

If we don't hire a new GM and Hurney stays, we won't draft a QB. He'll remain committed to Kaaya since he had a draft crush on him (probably reminds him Delhomme, his weaknesses certainly do).

If we hire a new GM as intended, then I definitely see us drafting a QB around the 3rd-4th round. One or two of these 1st round projected QBs always fall. This year, it looks like Josh Allen.
