Larsen the future?

While Daryl Williams and Matt Kalil tried their best Chandler/Bell impersonations against the Saints, our interior was supposedly real solid.

Personal observation is that Larsen did pretty well, albeit he did make a few mistakes. But very encouraging. Just need him to get more acquainted with the game and protection schemes, and we're set.

I do believe physically, he can be the center of the future. My ONLY qualm is. Is he at the point where we can trust him with the line calls? I don't see a lot of him and Cam pointing. Whether that means they are on the same page. Or is Cam just going with it?

Now I do realize that pointing does not necessarily mean something is amiss. Cuz usually, the QB only points when he sees a problem. So maybe Larsen is doing a fine job. Or we just haven't heard anything to the contrary.

So in this case. No news very well could be good news. Where those line calls are concerned anyhwho.

This. A center's individual play can be great and he can still be a poor center if he can't get the protection checks right. There doesn't seem to be a huge drop off in individual play between him and Kalil but so far there has been a big top off in terms of the OL's play as a unit.

I get you brosef. Good observations.

In reality though, we don't have a choice. Homeboy is catching on pretty dam decent from the data. Ryan is one injury away from being done, if he's not somewhat done already. (Other than the handful of games he has left in the tank)

You've seen enough football to tell its almost that time for Ryan.

Larsen is the future, if we like it or not.

So far I think he brings a lot of potential and you know Ryan is looking toward retirement so he's going to do everything in his power to see that Larsen is a good/great starter... best he can.

Man, it really would be nice to get Ryan back. If this line then plays like this when he is back, we can pretty much resign ourselves to the fact that maybe this line just isn't getting it together. Which does not sit well, cuz we do have some talent on this line.

The Offensive Line is a living breathing organism. And the relationship between the QB, and the Center is intricate to the whole thing. They are the engine that makes the whole thing run. If they are on the same page, everything seems to works so much better.

I mean damm, I have no clue anymore. I see talent, and yet we can't get it together. It is puzzling. I hate to go there, but maybe, just maybe, there is something going on behind the scenes. It can't be all on Cam's shoulder? Can it?

Oh, don't get me wrong. IMO, Larsen has gone above and beyond. He showed flashes last year, but he has been more than solid this year. Having said that, Ryan, when healthy, is the better option. The question becomes, how much longer do we trust him?

And yes, I would expect Ryan to do everything in his power to assure that Larsen is ready to go. Ryan is no longer a spring chicken, so he does not need to worry over his spot. If he loses it, he is set up nicely. If he retains it, we are set up nicely.

But yeah, I don't think we should worry about Larsen long term. The job does not seem to be too big for him.

Agreed. I am more concerned about what we have behind Olsen and KB
