We all thought that with Dave Gettleman gone that Steve Smith would surely retire as a Panther. Is anyone else beginning to wonder if this is actually gonna happen? He is throwing a retirement party, in Baltimore, apparently for Raven's fans, on October 21st. Are you concerned that the greatest receiver in Panther's history is showing more love to the Charm City than the Queen City?

I don't care what he does. If he does come back and "retire" as a Panther then cool. If not then oh well, time to move on. A for the party, whatever and where ever he wants to hold one is fine. Who ever said that he would only hold one? Steve was great overall while he was he but it is time to look to the present and the future. Can't always linger on the past issues and expect to be a good franchise.

He's a jackass. Always has and always will be. Don't get me wrong, he's the best Panther of all time, but he's a jackass. At this point the only people he is screwing are Panthers fans. The same fans who never waiverd and unequivocally supported him after he punched 2 teammates and demanded a trade. Oh well, let him continue to act like a 2 year old and celebrate in Baltimore.

I read the first couple of sentences and in my mind I was ready to attack this post. However you single-handlely convinced me to your point. All the guy is doing is hurting his legacy for his post retirement in the city he and his family live in.

I wonder if when Gettleman was fired, he thought the Panthers would coming running back to him so they could sign him and he could retire as a panther. And when that didn’t happen, he thought this attention grab would have some effect on his plan to retire.

Once a diva, always a diva...
