We all thought that with Dave Gettleman gone that Steve Smith would surely retire as a Panther. Is anyone else beginning to wonder if this is actually gonna happen? He is throwing a retirement party, in Baltimore, apparently for Raven's fans, on October 21st. Are you concerned that the greatest receiver in Panther's history is showing more love to the Charm City than the Queen City?

It's not very surprising.  Steve is a petty headcase.  He beat the poo out of his own teammates.  He was a disease in the locker room.  Why would we want to honor a person like that?  It goes beyond performance on the field.  Baltimore can have him.

I loved to watch him play, and I have his jersey - but he wants to retire a Raven... go for it.  Not going to change my life one teeny bit.

Totally. But this is different, I feel. This party is for the people of the city. Not the organization. The people of North Carolina adored Steve and have supported him and his family for 15 years. He should harbor no grudge for the fans, whom (who?) are the people being invited to this party...

I mean, I'm not losing sleep over this...just seems like a bad look. Maybe I am off base.

I would guess this is more something he wants to do to raise money for his charity than a final retirement celebration. Still, it’d be weird for Charles Tillman to have a retirement extravaganza in Carolina when he made his career in Chicago.
