Run Cam: RUN

If Cam was a video game, running would be a "power up" for him. After his rushing touchdown Sunday he looked like Cam Newton again for the first time this season. Making big plays with his feet increases is confidence, and that keeps him from hesitating when in the pocket.

Read earlier that you said the team has told him not to run. Do you know if that's because of his ankle injury or because they're trying to get him to be a pocket passer or something else? Is that a permanent injunction?

Cause, when Matt Ryan is looking more mobile than Cam, something is wrong.

If I were coaching this team and my life were on the line and we had to win one game I'd run the read option and designed runs for Cam like crazy. We would smash our way down the field.

Cam can't keep running and make it through his career without taking major physical damage imo. Like brain injury for example. Just can't do it.

thats kinda a catch-22... he wont have much of a career without his mobility...

I would really like him to stop turning 5 yard sacks into 17 yard sacks by trying to spin out of it. That hasn't worked since 2013. Ever since Cam had his ankle worked on he has had much less explosiveness. The days of Cam busting a 75 yard run for a TD are over I'm afraid. That 4.5 40 he ran is more like 5.3 now.

if that's the case then he is done...

Thats what I am saying. He needs to play his game and do what he does. Right now, a career ending injury is less likely to be the reason he is no longer an NFL qb..

One thing I don't see from Cam anymore is the joy of playing the game.  Sure he gives a fired up first down point but he has been taken out of what he does best.

Thanks Mike

Ankle, shoulder, brain for starters.

No matter what you WANT, I doubt you will ever see the old Cam except in rare cases.

He will have to become a competent passer or, well, we are in for a long season

I heard a stat today that last year and so far this year, Cam is basically the worst QB in the league (completion percentage) with a CLEAN pocket. Logic says that a QBs effectiveness goes down even further when pressured. We know our tackles aren't doing him in favors...

Guess what I'm saying is "well, we are in for a long season".
