Anyone else relieved now that our expectations for this season have been abruptly adjusted? I can now watch the games without getting upset that we're getting humiliated. There is nothing worse than getting your hopes up.

I wouldn't say relieved, more like resigned to the fact that the likely outcome of this season is not a good one.  It started the day Dave was fired and has slowly gone down hill ever since.

I think most of us have seen the light and understand this isn't a SB or playoff team. You can relax now and just enjoy Panthers games that are low stakes, and kinda sloppy. No need to get worked up. We're not marching to the playoffs.

This week is a tell all for me about this team. We can come out with our tails between our legs and get blown off the field or we can come to fight and hit Tom Brady right in the mouth. Win or lose I just want to see this team, specifically the offense show up.

I'm curious to know what exactly have you seen from this team in recent memory that makes you believe that?  I'm mean I'm all for trying to pump up the fans and all but there's a fine line between reasonable enthusiasm and delusional expectations.

Take a look at NE.

Offensively, Tom Brady looks good on paper. However, Brady himself was responsible for two strip sacks, a wide variety of wildly inaccurate throws to wide open receivers, and two throws that should've been intercepted. In effect, I would say he probably had the same "net" amount of mistakes as Cam, but such is forgotten with how much more often he passed in comparison to Cam.

Tom Brady's been very hot and cold this year. Luck is also on their side. Still a good QB like Cam is a good QB.

Their offensive line also has some issues. 10 sacks already. If there's any team to finally get some things going it's the Panthers. Last week, we played base defense far too much against the Saints spread concept. The Saints exploited it by motioning presnap and making us look like scrubs. Gap discipline was hard to achieve.

Expect Panthers to immediately revert to more nickel against NE. Doubt our defense falls that far again.

And now, NE...

To put that in perspective, Saints entered week 3 17th against the run. That indicates a good defensive line, which I also predicted before in my matchups article:

One thing the Panthers cannot underestimate is the Saints defensive line – more specifically their run defense. While New Orlean’s defense is terrible against the pass, their run defense isn’t too bad. Had it not been for a few fluke plays from Minnesota, they might be in the top 15 against the run.

Against the Patriots, the Saints played the run well, often stuffing their runningbacks for little to no gain. As a result, the Patriots focused more on the pass than the run game due to such.

The biggest weakness so far for the Panthers offensive line is run-blocking. To give more detail, Stewart and McCaffrey both have faced contact before the line of scrimmage more times than not. Sure, predictable play-calling isn’t helping either, but execution seems to be the main catalyst for this issue.

To make matters worse, the Panthers will be without All-Pro Center Ryan Kalil again this Sunday. While backup C Tyler Larsen isn’t half bad and did get himself some first team reps during practice this week, his ability to call out certain adjustments pales in comparison to Kalil.

So, don’t expect the Panthers offensive line to turn around just yet. OTs Matt Kalil and Daryl Williams are both reason enough to worry, and the Saints run defense is no pushover. Expect that to be the only defensive match-up the Saints may win.

This time, our o-line may actually look competent against arguably the worst front in the league. Curtis Samuel had plenty of moments on film where he was open and ready to make deep play opportunities come alive. Just need Cam to find those more often.

So, yeah. Maybe I am too optimistic. But this matchup isn't as bad as everyone thought, and it might be beneficial to us.

They never cease to amaze me. This should be a winnable matchup on paper just as much as the Saints should've been.

But sadly, who knows. Trying to stay optimistic, but can't say if we lose this Sunday I won't be looking at college OTs and vertical WRs to compensate lol.

I would agree with you if Cam was not injuried and playing like he was the beginning of last yr...I am Cam fan for sure. But Cam does not look himself..There is nothing physically wrong with Brady..this comparison is like comparing night to day. I hope you are right tho.
