One Last Play Discussion - Cam Newton Sack

Samuel being open is option 2, IMO.

Cam should've taken off after Trai's man collapses the right side. Big enough gap for Cam to bolt through and then the receivers downfield can block.

Watching Cam's helmet, it looks like he is only looking at the weak side receivers....looks like CMC, and I'm assuming Funch was the X.

Cam was trying to evade the pressure by the time Samuel was open.  Would have been nice to see him take off up the middle.  Would have had to juke a couple guys, cuz the middle wasn't wide open, there were two guys right there ready to step in front of him, but old cam could have made it work. If he's being told not to run, that's on coaches.

I'm tired of cam running backwards man. He needs to either run forward or just go down.

Cam running backwards is how 75% of his magic has happened. If he doesn't roll out backwards like that in the past, then we would have been deprived of most of our Cam highlights and never ascended past a .500 team. The sacks he's taken because of that are immensely fewer than the big plays.

Curtis Samuel wide open over the middle.

Trai Turner's man applied pressure, causing Cam not to throw it.

Matt Kalil gets blame for the sack.

Also, Matt Kalil went by him.  That should have alerted Cam to step up to the left, with Turner's man applying the pressure.  One thing you never do when your LT go by you, is go backward.  You are putting Kalil in a tough spot.

He's not as spry as he use to be and exactly how many times has he rolled out of it going backwards this season. Once.

Also note the saints and bills knew that and always had a deep defender ready for him.

He needs to stop going backwards. Other teams know all of his tendancies.

DT had leverage to the left. Cam moved the right direction. Love Monday morning quarterbacking at its finest.
