Trying to force Cam into being a dink and dunk QB is not gonna work

Too often our offensive gameplan is just poo.

We shouldn't have been going deep to Funchess of all people toward the end of the game. Get Samuel or Shepard out deep. Utilize your speed to open things up. Defenses are playing chess and we're playing checkers.

Goob, now don't go turning this this all around. You started this discussion by stating you wanted a not 100% healthy Cam to not only run more, but throw more deep passes. You have to see how that sounds....backazzward to how you usually treat players who are not fully healthy. By adding to their workload?

The best thing we can do for Cam? Run the damm ball a lot more effectively. That 1st drive should have been a TD. And Cam threw 1 lousy pass. That is how we get Cam healthy.

Like I said their are articles by doctors who said would be 100% by week 1, its not health its rust and getting used to the grind.  Running the ball isn't gonna do squat when your opponent can score at fast pace. This isn't 1966 the  NFL is a passing league

It sure looks like the Docs appear to be a little off with their prognosis. Cuz, Cam sure looks like he is having trouble with that shoulder.

Running the ball, and playing good Defense has always been the benchmark. Sure some teams can win with other schemes. But even good teams in todays NFL want to use that scheme.

Now with that said. You still have to score TDs. Even if you play ground and pound, you have to score.

And deep ball issues (which 5 attempts isn't a large enough sample size) has to do with personal. And its just not the picks, his screen passes are never sharp or on time

We went backwards. Devolved. This picture rings truer now more than ever

Not having your  all pro TE and #1 WR slows things down. That's half of Panthers offensive production sidelined

Cam only has 5 attempts of passes more than 40 yards this year (from what I've counted), I think Alex Smith has more than. He's not a dink and dunk QB

They need to let him throw deep and make him run 10 or more times next week.

They have him do 5-7 step drops and run 10 times a game, he'll be on IR before game 10.

When you guys learn this is a bigger issue with our past gm then our current coaching staff, you'll understand the true issue, cam is a qb that thrives when giving the time to throw, has recievers who can get deep and make plays downfield, and occasionally make plays with his legs.

its easy to blame the oc, but we have not built the team to Cam's strength since he's been drafted. Ot is still a mess after gross left, haven't found a smith replacement, etc. going forward I'm all for investing our resources in suring up the o line.

I'm still trying to figure out why we didn't even attempt to get Samuel or Shepard out deep.

Instead we bomb it to Funchess down the sideline. Epic facepalm.

Funchess beat his man twice. The passes were off the mark

Need to get some more read/O in the game plan. I know the goal is to keep Cam healthy and that's noble. But the guy isn't any good playing as a traditional O QB and Shula sucks at calling plays without Cam's ability to run being in the mix. That style and dominant D got them to 15-1 and the SB....why change after one down year?

I agree with you, but it also doesn't help when Cam overthrows his receivers by 10 yards on go-routes. Maybe it's the Ted Ginn effect.

I think Shula thinks he is outsmarting everyone by doing thid. Why did we get Shepard draft samuels and retain bryd if we are not going to run plays that fit their skill set..this coaching staff is retarded.
