Attitude: An Underrated Aspect of Football

This team has a more serious problem than what's being shown on the football field. It's under valued and often goes overlooked. That is attitude. When everyone in the organization, usually stemming from the top, doesn't have that fierce and competitive attitude you need in this game, then it's all over. Today there was no fire. There was no emotion. Nothing. Punting in the other teams territory shows us that we were just willing to do the unthinkable: give up.

This is usually a coaching issue. If the coaches aren't pushing or trying to put their foot down on the opponents throat, the players that aren't team captains will usually just go through the motions. We need that fire from the head coaching position again because we no longer have it. We need a head coach that identifies weaknesses with the team and addresses them. Not keep everything the same just for the sake of "continuity".

We hardly ever called slants in the first 2 games. Today that's all we did in the first half. Then that went away in the second half. It's like we can never have a mix. It's either all this or all that. That's up to the head coach to say "enough if enough" and he needs to put his foot down and make changes in his staff. Yes Cam played poorly today, but like what usually happens, we don't do anything to help him out.

The attitude of our offense overall was lackluster. It didn't look like we were even trying almost the entire game. We all know Cam feeds off of energy. We had none. And Cam, like what happens with most captains, has to feel like he has to make something happen that's not even there when his team needs him the most. It also doesn't help that he has no chance of reading defenses when the play comes in so late that there's only 5 seconds left on the clock.

In conclusion, we have MAJOR issues that goes beyond anything we can do personnel wise. From the owner all the way down to the waterboy, we need to make changes. Our culture needs to change. Our attitude needs to change. We've wasted superstars on this team by "staying the course". We need to focus more on winning and less on keeping everyone happy. Until these changes take place, this is the product we will continue to see.

So damn true. I can deal with a tough loss. What I CAN'T accept is a team that checks out in the 1st half IN A DIVISION RIVAL GAME! We showed absolutely no pride. We let the sorry ass Saints come into OUR house and clown us, and we just laid down and took it. Everybody had a "whatever" attitude and it has been a trend with Rivera.

I knew right after this happened, JR just caused a HUGE distraction.

Also didn't help that two of our biggest leaders were going to the media asking for more money.

Not sure what's going on inside the building, but it doesn't smell good.

Which is out of character as well. Lot's of events ever since our SB loss have spelled doom for this franchise going forward.

That would require them to be meanies, can't have meanies on the team.  Ask JR.

A lot of players on our team seem phony as fug right now. All this family bullshit and smiling like it's all good all the time when in reality the DWill attitude is how they really are when the doors are closed. They lie and smile for the camera then do some bullshit like earlier in the offseason.

Then you talk all this poo and come out lookin like whimpering poodles. It reeks of fake and no doubt is part of the reason other team players take so many shots at our guys after the game including after the SB where those real guys gave it to us. Phonies all around quite frankly.
