You probably single and have zero clue about women.

They straight up deleted his account and all attached post. He really was going somewhere. Not anywhere good, but it was entertaining enough. I guess my plead for them not to ban him went of def ears haha.

I bought my wife's engagement ring via online auction. Spent about a month watching the bid patterns and learning which times of day were best. Ended up getting her a 1 ct SI1 princess cut for $650. A similar ring from the local stores was running about $1800. Got the ring, it was what was pictured, so I was all good. Did another online auction and didn't have such good results. They ended up refunding my money for sending me a ring that wasn't the one pictured. You have to be careful.

I've bought a lot of jewelry for my wife through pawn shops. Diamonds can be a little tricky, but if you go with some of the lesser stones like rubies and emeralds you can get a pretty smoking deal. I've picked up 1/2 ct. studs for under $300 and some ruby and emerald rings for under $100 apiece. Also got her an emerald and diamond tennis bracelet for $400 I had appraised at over 3k. So find a pawn shop in an area with a really high divorce rate and you could be golden.

Another option might be to look at the lab grown diamonds. You can get better quality stones for the same price and in the end, it's still a diamond. The only thing I can really say for sure is make sure you get a ring that's appropriate for her job. My wife does a lot of typing, filing and research and wanted an eternity band with diamonds all the way around. Not really a huge request, but after talking to several jewelers, they recommended against it because she would knock the diamonds out from daily routine.

i married a lady with tiny hands. small things look bigger in...i mean on them. i didn't get a microscopic diamond by any means, but it definitely looked more impressive on her finger than it would have on someone a lot bigger. she went with me to pick it out and got the one she wanted. pretty much a win/win.

i had this friend who got engaged to this girl who's dad owned a jewelry store. i didn't envy him. he went to go ask the father's blessing at work. came out with the blessing and a giant ring. said he would look at one and the dad would just shake his head and kept going down the line until he got one the dad approved of. i think he ended up having to get a job there for a little while to pay it off.

The gf is very small, so that is very true, a problem so far has been rings being too big on her finger so far.

it's a good problem to have. have you taken her with you to look? that might be the best thing to do. if you have, i don't know. just try more stores. as sad as this might sound, after looking at a few places, just on a whim while we were passing through the store anyways, we looked at what sears had. i had been investigating the whole thing for a while and talked to friends of mine who had gone through the same thing and ended up finding one that we both really liked there.

the main thing is to find one that you both will like. don't worry about what other people say about what you get, where you get it or anything else. their approval or disapproval doesn't mean anything. the only opinions that matters is yours and hers. just have an open mind about the process.

make it yourself out of wood, and if she's a keeper it'll be just as good or even better in her eyes...

then, each 5 year increment anniversary, upgrade it a bit...

I'm with PSC and PhillyB though... probably won't be worth what you're going to spend on it in the long run...
