Alvin Kamara is better than Christian, it's sad we used the 8th pick on a fuging white RB

That's a racist comment.   His skin color has nothing to do with the fact that he is undersized for an NFL RB and our OC doesn't seem to know that.

Well the 49ers have 3 first round draft picks on their defensive line and have a lot of potential on that line.

any given Sunday anything can happen. I do believe some of our offensive line problems last week was due to the loss of Kalil, lack of playing experience between Matt Kalil and Newton and Newton still a little rusty and still getting into the grove of the game after sitting with an injury.

If we do not score more then 21 points against the horrible Saints defense, Shula needs to be gone, end of story. He has all of the talent in the world at his disposal and can't design plays to get players open or into open space and let them work, and it's the same long developing plays, only difference is we have CMC as a check down now, they haven't had him run those quick slants from the slot or across the middle on a slant out of the back field that he excels at. Shulas Offense is stagnant, and everyone knows how to beat it now, blitz.

Starting to hear excuses for the offense already.

Sorry, there are no excuses.

The Panthers have 4 first round picks and two second round picks at offensive skill positions at their disposal. Plenty of fire power to score on the Saints.

Time for a solid 30+ point game.

The Shula excuse-maker's bodies are ready.

Really hope to see 30+ this week. Watching the Rams utterly decimate this Niners D is a little deflating.

Yeah, after Week 1 cries of "Niners have one of the best defensive front sevens in the league!" seem kind of silly now.

Sad, but true.

Run up the middle into an 8 man box on 1st down. Wildcat with CMC on 2nd and 12.  All streaks play on 3rd and 15. Sack. 4th and 20. Punt.

You forgot the last step: "Dammit Cam, stop holding the ball so long!" or "Dammit Cam, change the damn play!" or "Dammit Cam, (fill in whatever Shula-ass-covering irrational excuse here)!"

No Excuses is such a dumb thread title to "THIS BOARD"

It is their MO around here, blame, excuses, etc.

2 wins so far, wonderful, but, Shula, Oline and Cam are not playing well period and if we lose Sunday, they will be the prime candidates again.

Both are true. Your boy is rusty. No shame in admitting it.

Really tired of hearing about Cam's shoulder.  Either he is ready to play or he isn't

if he isn't, that is on the trainers, medical staff  and coaches and GM who did not pull him In Dec and get the surgery done and have a contingency plan if he was not ready, including the drafT.

it seems to me a lot of 'hope and prayer' went into this instead of solid risk plan management

As for Shula. 4 years of this body of work, tells all that is needed, same with Derek Anderson over the last two.

We don't want to think about it, but I believe the window is closing on Newton, two years tops.  He is getting older, slower, hit 2 times more than any other QB, and he has outside interests. Nor does he have a coach that demands, not asks, demands  that he get technically better with his footwork and decision making  there is massive tape on him now and his tendencies

it is a Shame that during his time here, the offensive coaching was abysmal outside of the first year with  Chud

i hope I'm wrong but with NE, Detriot, Philly. And Atlanta looming we will know how the season is going to go by the mid mark

Why is he "rusty"?

Because Ron was desperate to win some of those last 4 meaningless games where Cam was playing injured?

Or because the organization thought a torn rotator cuff could be healed with hope and prayer and waited until THE END OF FRIGGING MARCH TO FIX IT?

Or both?

We signed a LT to a $55M contract and drafted another OT in the 2nd round. That's trying pretty damn hard. I think we signed the wrong veteran OT (should've been Whitworth) but effort was clearly made.

The bottom line is that our OL is going to continually struggle as long as A) Shula wants to draw up plays with limited checkdown options and B) Cam wants to focus on pushing the ball downfield (likely because he's so accustomed to A at this point).

Shula should've been replaced. Gettleman's post-draft presser where he expressed frustration about Shula's "evolution" or rather lack there of told me that Gettleman likely had some conversations with Rivera regarding that position but Ron stuck with his guy. If we aren't playoff bound this year and our offense continues to struggle, Rivera should be shown the door. He made his bed with Shula and he should have to lie in it. If we do go to the playoffs and our offense continues to struggle, the GM (Hurney or otherwise) should put an ultimatum on Ron. There's gonna be a change at OC. If he doesn't want to make it, then there will be a change at HC as well. Sometimes you can't just lead that horse to water, you have to smash his face into it too.

Very good post. I agree 100%

We'll see Sunday if we have an effective offense or not.  The Saints just play bad defense.  Honestly, we should roll up and down the field easily.  If we don't, then there needs to be a real offensive change.  The OL should dominate, our running game should click, and Cam should have time and options (he needs to be accurate).

The only monkey wrench in things is that this is a divisional NFL game.  Rules can get tossed out of the window there...

Brees is probably pissed and fed up with already having 2 strait losses and he's probably going to come out guns blazing. Not saying we'll lose but I bet the defense isn't going to look anywhere near as great. Brees always seems to know how to shred us through the middle of the field . I expect the Saints to at least score 20 ish points , we won't win this game without touchdowns.

As much as I respect Brees, he should be use to that poo by now. I heard a stat yesterday that since 2014 the saints are 1-11 in the month of September.

    • Yeah that with the Taylor Moton clip from yesterday...These guys have felt completely hamstrung the last two weeks
    • Our receivers were right there on the field, they also watched Bryce on film, and it sounds like they're looking forward to Dalton. Xavier Legette on Andy Dalton: "He got a fine understanding of things. I like the way he throws the ball and how to position it, so I feel like we going be good... On the go balls, he knows the right timing and the right among of air... The deep ball that's something I feel I'm good at, and that's something I been working on at practice [with Andy]... I ain't talked to him [Bryce] about it [the benching] yet, but we just got to continue to play. Next man up, and it's Andy."   Diontae Johnson on Andy Dalton: "A vet who's been back there for a while and knows the game, so once you have a guy like that back there, it allows you to be yourself more... He takes a lot off our plate just by having that experience knowing what to do, getting us the right calls, knowing when the pressure is coming..."
