vikings offered around 15M per year for 3 years or something high like that IIRC. Just sadly ended up in a bidding war with DG’s seat very hot. JR likely had his hand in the deal.

We’ll see.

If I remember the deal was structured with a out clause. Maybe we take it in a few years. I honestly wish Dave was making that call not Hurney.

We know Matt Kalil isn't going to be elite we just need him to be average...which I think he can be. Not all the sacks were his fault but honestly Cam needs to use his checkdowns more. I don't see why we can't pick up 5-6 yards almost on every checkdown to CMC or even Stew who isn't like a bad receiver or anything.

1 2 3...4  between that 3 and 4 second count the ball needs to come out or Cam needs to make his way to thim LOS and just fall like Brady does.

I do regret not signing TJ Ward though especially after seeing the cheap deal he got from TB. Apparently he had a good first game too.

So Kalil was responsible for all of the sacks and hits?

That's the same lazy poo you see on the huddle.

Yeah it's one week no sacks everyone's heaping praises next week sacks they are throwing stones. Honestly M Khalil is probably somewhere in the middle but good forbid it's anything other than the worst LT in football to he's a god and kept Cam clean. Btw on his contract LT are too valuable and scarce that they are all over paid.

Ffs we could have this

Yeah, I can't blame Gettleman for signing Kalil given we HAD to do something. There was always a risk it wouldn't work out.

A good portion of the league is struggling to find quality OL, especially tackles. It seems to be a growing concern as far as affecting the overall quality of the NFL product.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me to see the league change the rules to help the OL's out league-wide, similar to the rule changes they made in 1978 that allowed for OL to use extended arms and open hands when blocking.

You can't blame Gettlemen for signing a shitty OT to a big contract? That's pretty crazy. Not to mention Gettlemens inability to bring quality offensive players via the draft. Want to see our future...take a look at our last 5 drafts. Not looking so hot is it.

I'm still a Rivera guy, but I'm wavering. Coming over to the dark side with @tiger7_88 among many others. My absolute disgust hinges upon River dinghy's hanging on to Shula's left cheek as the tide of modern football tries to sweep him away.

Yep and failing to get an at least competent. Coordinator and QB coach for Newton.

And sorry but being Don's son was not enough to keep Shuls..and Ken Dorsey, really?

newton, too, needs to be held accountable for technically improving his game but there is no one who does that hence the 'dribble, about Kalil

As someone who was born in the mid 90s, how did linemen block before? Arms at a 90 degree angle and closed fists?(Serious question, I'm very curious).

I'm not ready to make a final judgement on M. Kalil just yet. So far my biggest grip with him is that I seemingly never see him doing much run blocking. The others are all fighting in a pile somewhere on a run play and he's off to the side jogging it out.

A few points:

1. We've played 2 games.

2. We use rust to talk about Cam Newton, but we can't use the same reasoning for Matt Kalil? He played 2 games last year and is coming off injury.

3. Agree with @Saca312 about communication and line calls. Ryan usually calls the protection and even though Larsen did a fantastic job blocking, the line calls are equally as important.

4. Maybe he just sucks but unfortunately only time will tell. Game 1 = good. Game 2= Bad. Hopefully Game 3 = good
