So About Worley Giving Up "Cushion" On That Last Drive Against Holmes

Are we sure he didn't know the play? Not to make excuses but he could be heated about being told to play 10 yards off the ball on 3rd and 1.

Regardless, we went into classic Rivera prevent defense and allowed them to march down the field despite the Bills inability to get anything going in the passing game.

Well they had to be using hand signals so he either missed them or couldn't see them. I still think if ten out of eleven guys get the signal, then it's your fault you didn't get it. And like @*FreeFua* said, know the situation and man up like the

Dang man. We are 2-0, our Defense is #1, and Worley is having himself a fine start to the year. IMO, critiquing one play like this is just plain petty.

I'm not saying bench the guy haha. I'm saying being heated like that when the game is on the line is unnecessary

That is a good point. However, it does not fit the narrative.

We applied a bunch of pressure on that last drive. It took them 3:30 to go 60 yards, they were grinding it out. We were still mixing up our plays, and still bliltzed quite often.

IMO, we played a much more aggressive D than we have in the past. Unfortunately, even that almost didn't work. Sometimes the other team is just successful.

I don't think they'd play one corner ten yards off and the other one manned up on the line. But yeah, have to love Rivera and his prevent defense. The only objective of prevent defense is to not let someone get behind you.. And zay Jones got behind everyone

I just watched Wilks presser and he did mention how they ask Worley to play a bit more off (I'm thinking this is due to him not being as quick/fluid) but had him come up more near the end. This play was about as close to "near the end" as possible so who knows.

I think it was Jourdan that had mentioned that during Tyrod's production meeting he mentioned that they know Worley likes to give more of a cushion and that he'd look to exploit that, which on that last drive he was

Hmm. So I guess they did have Bradberry manned up and him off. But if they had it designed for him to be that far off on 3rd and 1, then that's idiotic

I think its a good idea to have Worley sag off a little in coverage vs Bradberry just because of Bradberrys ability to press is so well developed at this point, but I hate to see the CB 10 yards off the receiver on a 3rd and 1 play. DL has to generate more pressure on that last drive as well.

Yeah definitely a miscommunication somewhere.

Like @pantherphan96 said, it's good to have Worley sag a bit but 8 yards on 3rd and 1 given the situation... no way

Something to mull over is the fact that that play was on the far hash. That is a long throw. Playing off can give him time to react. Bradberry was on the short side, and he was pressing his man. The shorter the throw, the closer you have to play to the receiver.
