We Need Peppers in Carolina

Heart = Effort.

Talent means nothing without effort. If the 7 foot guy doesn't attempt to move in front of the 4 foot guy to stop him from dunking (let's just say he can) then he is useless, and lacked effort even though he had to the ability.

It's quite simple, actually. You can't necessarily quantify heart, but you definitely know it when you see it.

effort means nothing w/o talent to a certain degree also. Peppers isn't a liability and is still one of the best all around DEs is in the league.....and that is when giving the standard "Pep effort". Nobody on the DL, no matter who hard they play, will likely even come close to what Peppers does.

Peppers will never be used and is not capable of being a Dwight Freeney (on a great day). They are not the same type DEs.

I completely agree. That's the exact point he actually made (as in, his point about heart was incorrect but he made a valid point about something else possibly by accident); the 4 foot guy will most likely not be able to dunk on the 7 foot guy even with a ton of effort.

However, even with tons of talent, if there is no effort, there will be sub-par results. Which is exactly the point everyone has been making.

I think Peppers IS becoming a liability to this team. He was a huge reason the Cowboys ran for 200+ yards. They ran at Peppers the entire second half, because he was unable to contain his side by being out of position and with either no attempt at tackling or by playing two hand touch.

He is also becoming a liablity being on this team because the Panthers organization is stuck in neutral and regressing as a defense. Just like they took forever to move on from Foster and other players they need to move on from Pep. The defense already sucks, it cant be any worse.

We already have a front 4 that is mediocre at best and that's w/him on it!Since he doesn't want to be on the team,they can only franchise him again for say 22-25 million/ 1 year.Our front line next year w/more $ to franchise pep would NOT improve,in fact maybe get worse!With the amount to keep him another year,it's better to spend it on some talent that is truely hungry and ready to prove themselves!The peppers era is over for our team,get used to it,in fact,if he doesn't step it up next Sunday,I say bench him!;)

I say tag Pep next year just to trade him. We should get a 1st and 3rd for his talent alone. Don't care where he goes, we just need the picks so we can stop mortgaging next years away and win next year.
Won't be able to get a 1st and 3rd from him,maybe a 2nd and 4th,wait a minute,that would be for how he played last year.With the way he's playing this year,might be lucky to get 1 5th or 6th round!

If peppers is franchised w/the hopes of getting draft picks,what happens when nobody wants him?then the team is stuck w/him another year paying his sorry ass 20-something million,just to see him miis tackles,run past the QB,sit on the sidelines whenever he wants;money well spent,yeah right!:cool:

While the path to franchising Peppers last year was obvious, this year is different. The pressure is on him to prove he has worth to other teams. The pressure is on him to show that he can be a game changing DE. Having said that, the pressure is also now on the front office to avoid a repeat of last year before Peppers' stock sinks enough to neutralize any net benefits in a trade. The season is early, but it's getting late for Pep and the Panthers.

Wonder why peppers has no sense of urgency?If this continues,it would only demonstrate that he is not the brightest lightbulb in the hallway,that or he has made his millions$ and is ready to move on to something other than football.
