We Need Peppers in Carolina

hey weyco2000, what kind of math are you doing? how much does peppers make again?

i know all our vaginas are hurt from peppers saying he doesnt want to be here, but say he is gone next year. does anyone have a free agents list for who will be avialable next year? it is one thing to say "we could use his money for a whole new team! OMGZ!!", but it wont matter if the only thing on the fa market are scrubs. This also assumes the fa teams dont franchise them or we can outbid them. we also have to extend some of our own players and resign our own free agents.

i understand what the op was saying. we need peppers, even if people hate him now, because we really have no one better right now and either way he gets paid this year. also next year we would have to replace a de and get new dts that would be hard to do in one offseason. and as much as people say peppers can be handle by a te or one on one, i gaurantee you that nfl teams gameplan to take him out of the game. who else would they game plan for? d-lew? charles johnson?tyler brayton? everette brown? ha.

Have you actually watched a Panthers game this season. Peppers has been flat out owned and abused by opposing offensive lines.

I watched several plays against Dallas where the TE rode his ass completely out of the play....with no help. there were others where the OT pushed him aside with one hand.

Peppers is NOT the dominant player that people thought he was. I was all for keeping him at the end of last season....and I was damn wrong. He is NOT a dominant DE. With his full body of work, he is not even an above average DE. He needs to be shown the door at the end of this season....whether we get anything for him or not.

1. You are correct teams are game planning - its "run right at Pep". a) he either wont be there. B) wont make the tackle c) play two hand touch as the RB runs by.

2. The defense is already horrible. It cant be any worse without Pep. This franchise needs to learn how to move on and this will be one of those times.

I say tag Pep next year just to trade him. We should get a 1st and 3rd for his talent alone. Don't care where he goes, we just need the picks so we can stop mortgaging next years away and win next year.

Why? Pep can pull the same move that he will only play for select teams. Doesn't matter if the Rams want him will offer picks and pay the man.....if the man has already told you straight up he will only go to 4 teams if you don't release him.

well there have only been 3 games to judge people by....and 1 of those 3 Peppers was a beast. It didn't get noticed b/c the offense got us blown out but if you watch each snap he played his week 1 performance was fantastic....AGAIN, not the stat sheet but what he actually did each snap on defense and the impact he had.

Plenty of so called guys with "heart" have not impressed at all 2 out these first 3 games.

Yeahhhh.... Pep piled up some stats in a BLOWOUT loss!!! But you know what,,,,,,, I kind of hope he does that again in a game or two so maybe some dumb GM will be fooled by it also.

Peppers has the Potential to be a top DE in this league if

I'm so tired of hearing this. No offense to theyhateme45 or anybody else, but how many years do you give somebody before you stop calling in potential?

Is he a good DE? Yes. Is he above average? Yes Is he an elite DE worth the money? No No No. I would have traded him for a second rounder in a heart beat last year, and I was disappointed that we didn't.

I say cut the loss and let him hit the market next year. The tag next year is too risky unless he has a break out season this year. He is old and unmotivated and his dollar value set by the tag will likely remove any trade value he has.

No, there is a thread breaking down each snap he was on the field for (1st half). He was a force from the start till the end. He had no control over what the offense did and the points they allowed the other team to put up.

that heart thing is overrated!! everyone always spits that out when they talk about peppers. do they even know what that is? can anyone define that? how much heart do you need to play a game for millions of dollars?

heart cant trump talent. a 4 foot amatuer bball player is not going to dunk on a 7 foot nba allstar no matter how much heart he has!

i think there are 2 things going on with peppers

1. lack of leadership

peppers never has or never will be a leader. it is not his personality, people think it has to be forced on him because he makes a lot of money. but it just isnt in him. he lost that leadership as the vets on that dline disappered. rucker, jenkins even al wallace. peppers listened to these guys.

2. the decline of our dline

it has steadily decline in skill in talent each year. the dlines we had before could bring pressure up the middle and the ends we were actually thought of as having the best dline in the league at one time. was it all peppers? no we had skill across the board. now look at us. can anyone actually say that any dline player is better than peppers?

Heart = Effort.

Talent means nothing without effort. If the 7 foot guy doesn't attempt to move in front of the 4 foot guy to stop him from dunking (let's just say he can) then he is useless, and lacked effort even though he had to the ability.

It's quite simple, actually. You can't necessarily quantify heart, but you definitely know it when you see it.
