We Need Peppers in Carolina

What part of he doesn't want to be here do you not understand?

First said he didn't want to be here..... Then he was working on a long term contract here.... About a month ago saidd he's happy here for "right now".... If the money is right, and the coaching staff we have is right he may want to stay here long term. We don't know the answer to that question right now.... My only point is him leaving would set the franchise farther back in the "Rebuilding process".... We may not want to see that or admit it, but thats real.

For some reason people in Carolina must think that players don't age? haha

I swear --- I hear all this talk about "remember, 2003" Like 2003 is Fox's excuse, Jake's excuse... it gets old.

O.K., news flash: 2003 was almost 6 years ago. A lot has happened in that time... Steve Smith has lost a step, Muhammad too. Ricky Proehl was a great third option then (we don't have a third option to save our life now!) Plus that magical defensive line featured a prime Kris Jenkins, Will Witherspoon, Mike Rucker, and Mike Minter brought a ton of heart and energy (something we lack a lot of now, minus maybe Beason and Harris).

Plus another thing, we had a special teams unit that could pick up 10-15 yards. We're lucky to get 2 now.

I won't say we can't rebuild--- you're talking another 3-4 years with no picks. How old will Smith be by then? Jake? This team needs major changes and to waste so much money on Peppers this year was just b/s!!! The guy doesn't want to be here... so you force a cancer in your lock room. His goal this year, is to do JUST ENOUGH. He wants to sign a longer deal which means he doesn't get hurt. A guy who plays to not get hurt... won't give himself on any play!!!

Look, I like Peppers. I just think people make excuses for him because he's from North Carolina. And yes, Peppers can dominate a game but he dominates as much as he's controlled which is his biggest problem. When teams want to control him, they can -- aside from maybe the Browns. So what.

I say put him on the Trade Block now, you guys need a 1st round pick to secure a top DT or QB like I stated in my first post. I'm shocked the Browns didn't milk Rex and the Jets for a first round pick when they traded for Braylon Edwards today. I would put Peppers up for Trade and milk a team for a 1st round, 3rd round and possibly a 4th or 5th in 2011, basically milk a team in giving up 2 or 3 draft picks that will hellp you in the 2010 season and beyond. Unless barring a miracle and John Fox stays along with Jake "Six Pick" Delhomme you guys would be wise to trade Peppers now and use that 1st round pick on a big future star DT.

Peppers doesn't have any trade value. Anyone interested in him will wait until he's a free agent and scoop him up for a modest 1yr deal.

It's painfully obvious that pro scouts around the league are aware of how terrible Peppers is now, and won't trade for him.

They franchised him in order to trade him but he has no value to us or anyone else. I am a HEEL fan and have liked Peppers since college. Who would honestly want this guy, he takes to many plays off and Panther fans are sick of it. After he signs with another team next year, it will be at a far reduced price. The Panthers offered him a long term deal and he refused it, that shows you how dumb he is. He's making over 3 times what Smitty makes, over 18 times what Beason makes and over 30 times what D'Lo makes. What do we have to show for it, 9 tackles and 1 sack in three games.(thats 48 million a sack and almost 5-1/2 million per tackle). Is he worth it? I say hell no, you try doing the math. Then let me know if you think he's worth what he's making this year.

We dont need Peppers in his current state. We're not better with him...yadda yadda yadda. What I dont understand is when Collins said his heart wasnt into it Jerry personally drove him to the bus station. When Pep said his heart wasn't into it we give his ass 17 mil.... I really dont see us getting anything for Pep.

That whole "he's amenable to a LT deal" thing I believe was a PR thing to assuage fans feelings after some of the things he said in the offseason. Others stated that as well at the time it was said. Notice...it wasn't a committment to working out a contract. It's a vague statement that can be easily wiggled out of with any number of platitudes later on.

hey weyco2000, what kind of math are you doing? how much does peppers make again?

i know all our vaginas are hurt from peppers saying he doesnt want to be here, but say he is gone next year. does anyone have a free agents list for who will be avialable next year? it is one thing to say "we could use his money for a whole new team! OMGZ!!", but it wont matter if the only thing on the fa market are scrubs. This also assumes the fa teams dont franchise them or we can outbid them. we also have to extend some of our own players and resign our own free agents.

i understand what the op was saying. we need peppers, even if people hate him now, because we really have no one better right now and either way he gets paid this year. also next year we would have to replace a de and get new dts that would be hard to do in one offseason. and as much as people say peppers can be handle by a te or one on one, i gaurantee you that nfl teams gameplan to take him out of the game. who else would they game plan for? d-lew? charles johnson?tyler brayton? everette brown? ha.
