look at the contracts gettlemen got done for Kuechly, Cam, Charles Johnson, KK, Addison, Peppers, Munnerlyn.

these frugal choices are what have us in contention this year. the NFL is very competitive you can't afford to pay too much for players PERIOD.

Your analysis ignores the obvious which is that the Panthers had Norman under contract for the year under the franchise tag without any negative salary cap ramifications in the future. Furthermore, when analyzing the Gettleman decision, you have to focus on the next year since Norman was ostensibly only under contract for that year. In other words, the Panthers could have still drafted some or all of the CBS they ended up drafting.

Again, a quality GM  does not facilitate such self- inflicted wounds. The job is hard enough as it is. Gettleman made an unwise and unnecessary decision out of arrogance and anger. He is now out of a job. Josh Norman is set for life. The Panthers managed to transition from a 15-1 team to team that finishes last in their division. You are engaged in magical thinking if you believe these things are not connected.

i admitted that we would have been better off with him but i think hindsight is 20/20, i still believe gettlemen is one of the best GMs in the league and if he finds a job he will turn that team around (bengals?), i am with you though i can't help but think how awesome it would be to have norman AND bradberry but we have to live with our mistakes and keep moving and improving im just glad we didn't over pay him for 5 years cause that would have left us handicapped. Gettlemens vision was substained excellence not 1 or 2 years and he was doing a great job at it. i don't believe he should have been axed he should have just been taught to handle cutting better. belicheck cut chandler jones because he knew he was going to want to be overpayed this is the winning philosophy

Shula can string together some beautiful drawn up plays in small stints and the rest of the game it seems he goes to sleep. I'm not jumping off the ledge yet, and I know its a strategy to use some plays to set up others later in a game, but we shall see this "new evolution" if it even exists these next 3 - 5 weeks as the level of opponents stiffen up.

I'm burning my panthers gear , BOA, and the huddle servers when it comes out that DG was fired because he was trying to replace Mike Shula with an actual OC but JR and Ron weren't having it.

I put it here in response to another post on the topic. Please check the thread if you wish. The irony is not lost on me that you felt compelled to respond to my post with this comment about why I made my post.

I am new here and assume it is okay to respond to another's post without researching whether that post matches the title of the original post. The fact that you seem to feel differently simply solidifies in my mind the rightness of my original post as it relates to Gettleman.

Now we disagree on two things.

Dear Mike Shula,

Oh why oh why didnt Gettleman resign Norman? We obviously would have made the Super Bowl with him last year but instead he is laughing at us even though we beat his team. And I am sure he would have made the offense better too. But at least Gettleman is fired for that one bad move.

Dear Shula,

I would like to see some energy in our offense.Please select plays quickly and let Cam be able to observe defense with playclock not less than 5secs..Demand for Cam to observe the whole playfield and put players in that have the ability to separate and yes direct Cam to use them. If we are going to run please put stewart and CmC in at same time..leave the opponents guessing...Dont be so damn predictable!
