Through two weeks, still don't know exactly who we are, or maybe we do.

We currently are ranked first in total defense, and that's after facing the 24th and 32nd ranked offenses. But still, we've looked pretty dominant, though a few key off throws by the opposition, and the refs keeping their flags in their pockets on what was probably pass interference (particularly against San Fran) have helped our defensive backfield look better than reality. But, still, we've looked pretty awesome. Teams that weren't supposed to put up many points against us have hardly put up any. Of course we'll get some more clarity facing what has historically been a prolific offense next weekend. We may not keep the Saints totally out of the he end zone, but I look for Brees to be put on his back, hurried, and to throw us a pick or two, and I think our status as the top dog defense will endure.

As for the offense, we are currently ranked 25th in total offense. Granted, we've faced the number two defense and a top 10 defense in San Francisco. Still, considering the investment that was made by drafting two dynamic and speedy players on offense, our offensive productivity and efficiency have been obviously lacking. On paper, we have weapons from Cam to CMC, Samuel, Stewart, and the biggest receiver in the league, but none of this is translating into points. It's unacceptable! We are lost on offense. We have to establish an identity. For all the talk of adding speed, taking what the defense gives you, counterpunching, and using all the players at your disposal, I haven't seen any of that. We're playing down to the level of our competition---a dumbed down version of what we could be for whatever reason. The loss of Olsen is not going to help, unless it forces Shula, Rivera and Cam to actually do all the things that they were intimating would happen over the summer regarding the so-called "evolution."

Well, we'll see what happens. We are 2-0, Although I don't necessarily feel that we've played great ball. We have played well enough to win from the perspective of offense. It would be a shame for our defense to be so dominant and our offense to be a sham. Now is the time to get the offense in line with the defense. We have the players to at least to be markedly better than what has been put on display thus far. Changes have to be made before we have another unfulfilling season with a disjointed offense and a boss defense! That seems like where we're headed if the first two weeks are any indication. And frankly, I'm sick of it. We are looking eerily like the same incomplete---up and down team that we've looked like for years, and that's just not acceptable for a team with so much talent on both sides of the ball.
