He may be asking for too much money. Probably nothing a little negotiation can't overcome. 

Even if he's still that good, it will take him 2-3 weeks to learn the offense and get back into football shape. He hasn't even practiced with a team this year, has he? I think we have enough talent already. We just need to use it.
